To Patric's Family,
We visit "Patric's Place" every now and then and stop to pay our respects. Our 4-year-old child likes to look at his picture and understands that Patric is "with the angels in heaven." We recently felt compelled to do some research, because we did not know what happened to him and did not live in the area at the time. When we visit the park, we feel like we are close to him. The park is a wonderful tribute and please know that he is in our prayers, even though we never knew him.

To Patric's Mom, Dad and Family, Although I didn't know Patric personally, as a middle-aged divorced Mom with a young son who's an only child, who's so much like Patric in personality as was described in the Newspapers, being non-adventurous and knowing God, I felt like I knew him. Patric is still on my heart, 4 yrs. later, and you're in my prayers for the strength and comfort from the Lord and your wonderful and cherished memories of Patric. He's a Beautiful Boy and I will always remember Patric McCarthy.
I am so deeply sorry for your loss and will always remember your precious Patric.
Love in Christ,

I know that Patric is with his Heavenly Family. I know that we all miss him, and it is hard to go the day without saying, Patric would have liked this, or that. My heart goes out to his brothers and sisters, who miss him so. They miss their playmate, their friend, their brother. I hope that as time goes by, that they will concentrate on who he was to them, and not how he was lost or that desperate last week of looking.
When people say, how are things going, just say, one day at a time. We love you and hope that your grief will lesson as time passes. Love, Grandma.

To everyone who has lost Patric, my heart goes out to you. My heart broke when I heard the news, I work at Loon with Doreen "the horse lady" , I still cry when I think of such a beautiful boy having such a short stay with you all. There are no words that can be said to ease your pain. I lost my father to cancer 4 years ago, So when I go to sleep at night and say my prayers I ask my father to keep him company and tell him the jokes he used to tell me and my sister. I wish the day that all of us barn girls were in the woods we could of found him. But Patric found something even better, heaven, So now he is the guardian angel of all the young souls, girls and boys. He will never drift far from my thoughts or prays and neither shall all in his family. And the small town of Lincoln and the surrounding areas shall always remember a brave little soul that united so many strangers together. Love Beth and Tucker.

Your family may remember me as "The horse lady". I would like to share a poem my 5 yr.old son wrote to Patric.
His name is Patric
And even though he died
I still love him
And I will always keep him in
this poem
And maybe sometime I will get
together with your parents
How is your family doing?
My name is Michael Miller
And I will always think of you
from this poem

These are the lyrics to 1 of my favorite Bluegrass songs performed by The Gibson Brothers the title to the song is When god comes and gathers his jewls.
The ceremony was over
a lad stood alone in a pew
for he had just said goodbye
to the one he had loved through
the years. He stood alone with his
head bowed down as though his
heart would break a parson came
over and took his hand and too
him these words he did say.
When God comes and gathers his
jewls all his treasures of diamonds
and gold we'll meet him up there in
heaven so fair when God comes and gathers his jewls.
That night with the pale moon a shining you could see the lad all alone with his eyes lifted up towards
heaven he's repeating these words he was told.
When God comes and gathers his
jewls all his treasures of diamonds
and gold we'll meet him up there in heaven so fair when God comes and
gathers his jewls.When god comes
and gathers his jewls.
I sincerely hope that these words
will bring some degree of comfort to
the family and friends of Patric

How quickly organized it became
Strangers becoming friends waiting in the rain
No one wanting to lose their place in line
The busses shuttling groups out from time to time
"I have a daughter, a son, a nephew, or a niece.
Until we find him I will have no peace."
Day turned to night but no one felt blue
We refuse to give up and there's always the night crew.
Night turned to day and coffee was served
"This is a nightmare no child or parent deserves"
Keeping the faith and hope alive
Searchers and volunteers increased the drive
Rumors and speculation, as always abound
No one could rest until Patric is found.
Friday dawned, morning anew
"Today is his day" so little we knew.
Someone found him; they've got him; such joy and relief
The truth was told and beyond belief.
How could this be after all we've done?
Wasn't 600 enough, perhaps six hundred and one?
Feelings of failure and grief and despair
We tried so hard; this simply isn't fair.
How quickly we mourned and cleaned and dispersed
To return to lives at separate corners on earth
No life is the same; all have changed forever
Thanks to the days we banded together
Strangers we were, caught up in our lives
Heeding the calls and calming the cries
A life we never knew or ever did share
Ended so lonely, but angels were there
The angels that cradled Patric up in those woods
Were the same who called us when no one understood
Understood the need we felt in our hearts
To be there, to help, to simply take part
"They have professionals like New Hampshire Fish and Game
Who are trained to do this"... but it's not the same.
I need to be there, I just can't explain.
Now here we stand
Some of us hand in hand
Saying goodbye to a boy so small
Who's soul has bound us once and for all
Life will go on with all its endless traffic
Yet you and I are changed and we'll always remember Patric.

Safely Home
I am home in Heaven, dear ones;
Oh, so happy and so bright!
There is perfect joy and beauty
In this everlastin light.
All the pain and grief is over,
Every restless tossing passed;
I am now at peace forever.
Safely home in Heaven at last.
Did you wonder I so clamly
Trod the valley of the shade?
Oh!but Jesus'love illumined
Every dark and fearful glade.
And He came Himself to meet me
In that way so hard to tread;
Then you must not grieve so sorely,
For I love you dearly still;
Try to look beyond earth's shadows,
Pray to trust our Father's Will,
There is work still waiting for you,
So you must not idly stand;
Do it now, while life remaineth-
You shall rest in Jesus' land,
When that work is all completed;
He will gently call you Home;
Oh, the rapture of that meeting,
Oh, the joy to see you come!

Dear Family of Patric
Each time he walked into a room with his bright smile it was a blessing. Please remember each smile he gave you and hold in your heart. He was full of love and innocence may this continue in your hearts. Take peace in knowing this child knew how loved he was from ALL of his family. I am sorry for your pain and saddness. I will hold you in my prayers.

Our familys do not know each other, however, we have alot in common. I lost my grandson, my daughter's son, only 6 weeks ago. No words can express the pain that comes with such a loss. Your Patric was a beautiful boy. For some reason, he was chosen to be one of gods angels. My heart breaks for you, as you begin your journey of healing. Though I knew him only through the news, tears flow freely, just thinking of him and his family. god bless you.

I can't even begin to express how very heartbroken my entire family is for your loss. I have an 8 year old little boy of my own, who bares a STRICKING resemblance to Patric, and at the first word of his disappearance, I was praying he would be found safe and secure. Alas, God had different plans. Please accept our deepest condolences for your tragic loss. I will pray for you always.

Patric, although I never met you I will never forget you. I was one of many who searched for you. Never again will I look at the woods as I always have. I love to hike but will do so with a bit of sadness. As I searched for you I saw my grandchildren's faces and asked them to pray for you. As a mother my heart aches for your mom and dad. Your grandfather Jim was there every day as we boarded the buses and we all tried to comfort him.
May you make your journey over the rainbow on the wings of a snow white dove.

Dee & Steve,
1st I would like to thank you Steve for giving me my first job @ Dunkin Donuts. And putting up with me. As a father figure would do.
Patric was a very lucky young man for having you for his father.
And Dee, thank you for being there as a big sister and telling me right from wrong. And for all the happy times you brought to me when I was down.
Patric couldn't have asked for a better MOM. Any one can be a MOTHER but it takes a lot more to be a MOM.
You both are always in my heart and forever will remain there. You both have influenced me though out my life weather you know it or not.
Thank you & I love you both!!

Death is nothing at all. It does not count. I have only slipped away into the next room. Nothing has happened. I am I, you are you, and the old life we lived so fondly together is untouched, unchanged. Whatever we were to each other, that we are still. Call me by the old familiar name. Speak of me in the easy way which you always used. Put no difference into your tone. Wear no forced air of solemnity or sorrow. Laugh as we always laughed at the little jokes that we enjoyed together. Play, smile, think of me, pray for me. Let my name ever be the household word that it always was. Let it be spoken without an effort, without the ghost of a shadow upon it. Life means all that it ever meant. It is the same as it ever was. There is no absolute and unbroken continuity. What is this death but a negligible accident? I am but waiting for you, for an inrterval, somewhere very near, just round the corner. All is well.

Patric, my thoughts and prayers have been with you and your family. We all wanted to hear that you were found and that you were safe and warm. As I have wept for you, I have tried to find comfort in the belief that you are now safe and warm in the arms of God. I think of your family, your friends and classmates and all of the volunteers that searched for you and pray that they, too, are somehow able to find some comfort. You touched so many hearts.

God made another Angel today
One to watch and guide us all
He took the best to Heaven
Even though you were so small
Although we all will miss you
We'll think of you each day
Patric you're forever in our hearts
For always you will stay.
Although I did not know your son, My friends The Whites did and through their saddness I feel I knew him too. May your sorrow be lessened each day, and your memories never forgotten.

Patric(without a K)
I didn't know you Patric
And you didn't me
How I wish that I did
Kow someone so special
When I first seen that
Innocent,sweet face on TV
How I prayed and hoped
For you to safely come home
You remind me so much of
My 10 year old step-brother
So young and so little and
Yet so strong and determined
How you loved being with family
And friends at home and school
How you made people laugh and smile
From such a small and strong heart
You tried so hard to stay here
With the people you loved
We all tried to help you
For more loved you then you knew
The Lord seen you laying there
Though,so cold,alone and scared
He sent the angels to watch over you
It is almost time to come home
Your mothe heard your voice
As you lay there calling for her
And she is so proud of you for
All that you have tried and done
The Lord is waiting for you now
It is alright sweet little angel
Close your eyes and rest
It is time to come home
Where there is no more pain or fear
In your family's and friend's hearts
And in mine, and all those that helped
You were loved very much
And always will be
For now and forever.
