Paul Joseph BORDEN

BORDEN, Paul Joseph Age 84, of Asheville, NC, died Saturday, February 16, 2013. Mr. Borden was born June 20, 1928, in Van Wert, Ohio. He entered service in the Merchant Marines and then served in the Coast Guard during World War II and later in the US Army Air Force. He was a furniture manufacturer's representative working with commercial projects. He lived for a number of years in Boston and moved to Asheville in 1996. He was preceded in death by his parents, Earl and Augusta Etts Borden. Paul was a person who loved people, paid attention, and always had the desire to "meet people right where their need was." Surviving are his wife, Ruth Nussbaum-Borden; sons, Paul J. "Tad" Borden of Los Angeles, Calif., James P. Borden of Wayne, NJ, Thomas E. Borden of Goshen, Conn., William C. Borden of Glastonbury, Conn.; sisters, Lois R. Bates of McCutchenville, Ohio, and Carol A. Ritchie of Joliet, IL; brother, William K. Borden of Lexington, KY; six grandsons, one great granddaughter, and numerous loving nieces and nephews. His Memorial Service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, February 22, 2013, in the Chapel of West Funeral Home, 17 Merrimon Ave., Weaverville, NC 28787 with Rev. Craig Allen officiating. Burial will be in Western Carolina State Veterans Cemetery.
