PAUL CLOUGHERTY Obituary

CLOUGHERTY, Fr. Paul L. RCAB Of So. Boston, formerly of Holbrook, on Jan. 6, 2013, at age 80. Son of the late John F. and Mary A. (King) Clougherty. Twin brother of the late Donald F. Clougherty. Fr. Paul was born in Manchester, NH and has served as a Priest in the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Boston for the past 52 years. He graduated from Boston English High School in 1950 and Boston College in 1954. Fr. Paul graduated from St. John Seminary, Brighton and was ordained in 1960. His first assignment was St. John Church, No. Chelmsford and after that served at Incarnation Parish, Melrose, St. Michael Church, Lowell, Sacred Heart Church, Roslindale. Fr. Paul had been Pastor at St. Ambrose Church, Dorchester and most recently at St. Joseph Church, Holbrook. While assigned to High School Ministry Fr. Paul served as Chaplain of Pope John 23rd High School in Everett and later taught at Catholic Memorial High School, West Roxbury. In lieu of flowers should friends desire memorial contributions may be made in Fr. Paul Clougherty's name to St. John Seminary, Scholarship Fund, 127 Lake Street, Boston, MA 02135-3898 or the Society of St. James the Apostle, 24 Clark Street, Boston, MA 02109-1127. Reposing at the Cartwright Funeral Home, 419 No. Main Street (Rte 28) Randolph until 9:00 AM on Friday followed by a Funeral Mass of the Resurrection at 10:00 AM in St. Theresa of Avila Church, 2078 Centre Street, West Roxbury. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend visiting hours Thursday 4:00 - 7:00PM in the Cartwright Funeral Home. Burial in St. Joseph Cemetery, West Roxbury.
