PAUL MAHONEY Obituary

MAHONEY, Paul J. Of Hanover, formerly of Braintree and Quincy passed away on February 1st, 2016 at the age of 87 surrounded by family. Beloved husband of Margaret (Flemming), devoted father of Attorney David P. and his wife Kathryn of Braintree, Richard P. and his wife Lori of Hanover and Tara A. Healy and husband Stephen of Hanover. Loving Papa of Meghan, Caitlin, Connor, Michaela, Caroline and Jenna. Dear brother of the late Edward Mahoney and Marion Broadbent both of Quincy. Upon graduation from South Boston High School Paul joined the Massachusetts Air National Guard where he served as a staff sergeant during the Korean War. Paul worked at several electronic firms and eventually retired as New England sales manager for Beckman Instruments and TRW. After his retirement he accepted a position at the Massachusetts Archives and retired as a Reference Archivist. He enjoyed summers in Wolfeboro, NH where he would cruise Lake Wentworth in his boat the Kean V. In retirement he enjoyed singing with the Belles and Beaux at nursing homes and senior centers on the South Shore. His greatest love was spending time with his family, he particularly enjoyed attending his grandchildren's plays, concerts and sporting events. He will be remembered as a kind man and loyal friend to those who had the great fortune of knowing him. Visiting hours in the Sullivan Funeral Home, 551 Washington St, Rte 53 in HANOVER on Thursday from 4-7 PM. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday at 10 AM at St. Mary of the Sacred Heart Church, 392 Hanover St, Rte 139 in Hanover. Burial will follow at Blue Hill Cemetery in Braintree. I would like to express my deep and heartfelt sympathy over the loss of your father. What a good and kindhearted man he was. I feel so very blessed to have spent time with your Dad as well as your loving, extended family. He was so very proud of you and your love and devotion to him was beautiful to witness.
