Stanton, Paul N. Passed away peacefully at his home in Framingham on June 11, 2015, at the age of 98. His death came exactly 6 months after the death of his beloved wife, Theodora (Sculos) Stanton, who died at 97. They were married 73 years. Mr. Stanton was a graduate of the Boston Latin School and later on M.I.T, with a degree in mechanical engineering class of 1939. He grew up in the South End of Boston, where is father owned and operated what was later to become the first supermarket known as Stamatos Bros. After graduating from M.I.T., Mr. Stanton served in the U.S. Army and later retired as Captain in 1945. He later went on to distinguish himself in the machine tool industry where he invented "The Tape-O-Matic" machine that literally revolutionized that industry. Many articles appeared in the NY Times and Business Week. Upon retiring from that industry as President of Pratt Whitney Machine Tool & Colt Industries, he went to Athens Greece where he ran Coke-a-Cola of Greece for Esso Pappas & Companies for several years. Returning to the states, Mr. Stanton and his wife moved to Falmouth, where he opened Falmouth Harbor Yacht Sales and ultimately became the largest Boston Whaler distributor in that industry. While involved in all his endeavors, he was a life member of the Shiners, Masons, National Croquet Society and Woods Hole Oceanography Institute in Woods Hole. Also while spending many years in Delray Beach, FL, Mr. Stanton was very instrumental with the building of St. Mark's Greek Orthodox Church in Boca Raton, FL. A member of Boca Raton Yacht and Country Club and a mentor for the Palm Beach School System where he helped mentor students. In addition, Mr. Stanton has a "Brick" at Fenway Park in his name. he was a lifelong fan of the Red Sox dating back to the mid 1920's. Mr. Stanton is survived by a daughter Carolyn Pappas Diamandis of Wayland; three grandsons, John C. Pappas, III, Paul and Nicholas Pappas; four great-grandchildren, John. IV, Alexander, Jackson and Chloe Pappas. He is also survived by two sisters Dora Conomos of Jamaica Plain and Georgia Critsley of Boston, a brother Rev. Milton Stamatos of NY and several nieces and nephews. Donations may be made to St. Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church, 57 Brown St., Weston, MA 02493.
