1955 - 2018

DAVIS, Peter Of Arlington passed away at home on Wednesday, July 11th, 2018. Devoted husband of Donna M. Cantera-Davis and loving father of Matthew N. Davis of Franklin. Dear brother of Kenneth P. Davis and his wife Julie Miller of Silver Spring, MD. He was born on May 16, 1955, in East Norwich, NY, to the late Sidney and Barbara (Frankl) Davis. He was a graduate of Oyster Bay High School, Brandeis University and New York University, earning Bachelor and Master degrees. He also attended Tufts University earning a Certificate in Human-Computer Interaction and studied Graphic Design at Massachusetts College of Art. Professionally he was a Software Engineer and over the course of a 40 year career worked for Digital Equipment Corporation, BBN Educational Technologies, Bitstream, Houghton Mifflin Harcourt and InterSystems. Peter had a life-long love of the theatre and studied acting with Ted Kazanoff while an undergraduate at Brandeis University. Over the years he appeared in many productions with the Arlington Friends of the Drama and The Concord Players. He met his wife Donna of 29 years when they were both auditioning for "Kiss Me Kate" at The Concord Players. He was also a talented graphic designer and illustrator and created cover art and publicity posters for many local community theatre productions. When blogs became very popular, Peter began writing and illustrating his ideas and inspirations on two web-sites: thetechcurmudgeon.blogspot.com and ideasgreatanddumb.com. Peter was also a 3D photography enthusiast and a long-time member of the New England Chapter of the Society of Children's Book Writers and Illustrators (SCBWI). All are invited to attend a Celebration of Peter's life to be held on Saturday, August 11th, at 1:00 p.m. at the First Parish Unitarian-Universalist Church, 630 Massachusetts Avenue, Arlington, MA. Memorial donations made be made to the American Cancer Society or the Dana Farber Cancer Institute.
