PETER KELLEY Obituary

KELLEY, Peter A. Of Fort Myers, Florida, died suddenly but peacefully at his home, on August 12, 2024. He is survived by his parents, Paul and Leah Kelley of Topsfield; his brother, Paul and wife, Deanna of Fort Myers; his sisters, Pamela of Princeton, NJ and Paula and her husband, Aaron Tap of North Hollywood, CA; his nephew, Michael and wife, Melanie of Ojai, CA; and his niece, Kaitlyn and her husband, Nathaniel Bocko of Georgetown; as well as several cousins. Peter was raised in Wenham and graduated from Hamilton-Wenham Regional High School in 1974. He earned a BA from the Boston University School of Communications. He was an up-and-coming young man in the broadcast and advertising circles. He started his career as a producer at WSBK-TV and worked games for the Boston Bruins and the Boston Red Sox. He then became an account rep for two major ad agencies in Boston - Harold Cabot Company and then McGavren Guild Media. He went on to become a sales rep for Kiss 108. Peter was a most generous individual, always ready to help those in need while battling a series of health problems himself. After he was diagnosed with Lupus, he worked tirelessly for the Lupus Foundation. He chaired two charity events, bringing in such sports luminaries as Ted Williams and Bobby Orr and also chaired another three events, featuring Les Brown and his Band of Renown. In 1999, Peter's brother, Paul founded and Peter produced the popular radio program "North Shore Sports Desk" which is still running today. The show featured such weekly talent as, Phill Stacey, Bill Kipouras, Paul Halloran and the national golf reporter, Gary Larrabee. After his Lupus diagnosis, Peter tried teaching at Brookwood School and also became an assistant golf pro at Oakley Golf Club in Watertown, but his illness prevented him from working a second season. Peter was a true patriot and fan of the "Jimmy Doolittle Raiders Club." Funeral services are private. Arrangements by the Campbell Funeral Home, 525 Cabot Street, BEVERLY. Donations in his memory may be sent to: The Lupus Foundation of New England, 290 W Boylston St., Ste. 60676, Worcester, MA 01606. Information, directions, condolence at www.campbellfuneral.com

I first met Peter at NASC I was a year ahead of Kell and on the hockey team. I probably ran into him at The Twin rinks in Danvers literally in a summer hockey game.
We reconnected at the OMaley Rink as GHS coaches. As NS Sports radio host and producer Kell was incredibly generous of his support of me and the teams I coached. He was always that way. We stayed connected miles apart via FB and I so enjoyed his hockey and music posts. Growing up on the North Shore we shared a love of hockey Bobby Orr, music, and memories of years past. Like so many we will miss you Kell. My thoughts and prayers are with Paul and his family. RIP my friend

I am so sad to hear this news. Peter was such a wonderful friend to me at HWRH and a very kind man to all he met. He will be greatly missed.

Peter was a great friend, better athlete than most knew and fought his disease with a competitive spirit while living his life they way he wanted.
