PETER MCIVOR Obituary
Of Watertown, Connecticut, died suddenly on Thursday, May 31, 2012 at home. Peter was born in Waltham, MA on July 18, 1956, the third son of the late Edward and Dorothy McIvor. He was a 1974 Waltham High graduate. Peter was a talented trumpet player who earned his music degree at the New England Conservatory in 1978. Mr. McIvor taught music at Old Lyme, Waterford, and Canton, CT. In addition, Mr. McIvor coached women's high school basketball for several years. Peter is survived by his twin sons, Peter McIvor, Jr. and his wife Sara of Jersey City, N.J. and Christian McIvor and his wife Christine of Greensboro, NC, his siblings, Susanne McIvor of Moody, ME, William McIvor and his wife Johanne of Southborough, MA and Robert McIvor and his wife Lori of Mansfield, MA, and seven nephews. A private service will be held at Mount Feake Cemetery in Waltham, MA.

Mike, I am in a good place, but will never stop missing you and thinking of what might have been if not for fate, literally right to the end. I just read about Mike's passing and I was stunned! I am so sorry for his family's loss. The McIvor family and "Mikey" were a big part of my childhood on Longfellow Road. Who knew all those years ago, as we played in our yards that both of us would grow up to have twins!

Dear McIvor Family,
I was shocked and saddened to hear of Peter's untimely passing.He and all the band members from my Waltham High School years have remained close to my heart. Peter was my "lead" trumpeter and a fine player and musician.What was so valuable to me and to the jazz ensemble was his "spark plug" leadership. He led by example and encouraged everyone to give their best effort. My heartfelt condolences to his family. Let us continue to cherish the fond memories we have of him.

Peter (to his HS classmates) will always be remembered for his magnetic smile and amazing musical talents! It was so good to see him at our last class reunion and to stay in touch with him for the last few years. I can't tell you how many times he said, "this is so cool!" that night. He got there early and totally jumped in with the committee as we prepared for a great night....one that we will always remember sharing with him. I still can't believe he will not be at our next get together. My thoughts, love, and prayers go to his children and family. He was so proud of his boys and loved his new "daughters". RIP Pete. I'll miss sharing my birthday with you next month.
