PETER MCNULTY Obituary

McNulty, Peter Francis, Jr. Died on May 11, 2015 from complications of a chronic illness. He was sixty-six years old. Born on June 18th, 1948, Peter was the only child of Peter F. McNulty, Sr. and Mary A. McNulty. He grew up in Brookline, MA and attended Brookline High School. It was there he met his first wife, Donna Meline (formerly Goldberg). They were married for nineteen years and raised a family in Medfield, MA. He enjoyed serving as a soccer coach for his children's youth teams and spending summers at Nantasket Beach with his family where he tried his hand at boating. Professionally, he graduated from Northeastern University in 1972 and excelled as a civil engineer specializing in bridges and tunnels, a career that was his lifelong passion. He served as Director of Construction of the MBTA for seven years and later as a Vice President at Modern Continental for nine years. He continued to succeed overseeing huge projects at construction companies such as URS, TRC, and Geocomp. He was known for his professionalism, sharp style, and quick wit. He was later married to Nancy Sterling and then to Christine Shane. He survived two cancers later in life. He is fondly remembered as a charming, intelligent, and dedicated individual. He is survived by his two children, Meaghan McNulty and Brendan McNulty, and four grandchildren, Sadie, Seamus, Eleanor and Penelope. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society. A memorial service will be held at the Bell-O'Dea Funeral Home in BROOKLINE, MA on June 13 from 3-6pm.

Family of Peter McNulty:
Shocked and sorry to learn of Peter's death. I worked with him while he was with the MBTA and URS.
He was always a cool manager; a pleasure to know and work with.

My deepest sympathy to the entire McNulty family. Even though i grew up in Brookline I didn't meet Peter until our paths crossed when he was at Modern Continental. I have nothing but fond memories of him and our times together talking not only business but about our Brookline roots. Peter was larger than life in so many ways and his personality and presence touched us all. May he rest in peace.

Meaghan and Brendan,
My heart is so heavy with sadness I'll miss your Dad dearly. I know that he is reunited with Uncle Pete and Mami (his dear parents) I will forever have the memories of White Place, Christmas eve's,and your childhood home in Medfield. He was a "little brother" to my Mom and I smile when I can hear him call her Susie, instead of Shirley. I know my brother Bob called it an honor that your Dad was his Godfather. Your Dad comforted me when I lost my Dad, with wonderful shared memories. Please know your in my heart and thoughts and I will see you June 13th.

Dear Meaghan and Brendan,

Karen and I are so sorry to hear of your father's passing. I don't think anyone can be prepared for this, no matter how clearly we understand that it is inevitable, it is a huge shock to the family.

Our thoughts of loving kindness are with you, Peter's grandchildren and family. We will do all we can to be sure that our mutual granddaughters remember their Papa as they grow up. Though this is a time of great loss and sadness, those memories will comfort us as they do the children as time goes on.

With Love,

Skip and Karen Anderson
