Ralph GOSCINAK Obituary

GOSCINAK, Ralph Henry Of Plymouth, formerly of Marshfield, passed away peacefully on February 18, 2023; with family at his bedside. He had been cared for compassionately by the staff at South Shore Hospital for 35 days. Ralph was born in Dorchester; attended Cathedral High School, Class of 1958; and met the love of his life, Polly, while attending her friend's party for the Cambridge Caballero's Color guard. Polly carried the American Flag. Ralph played the bugle in the St. Kevin's Emerald Knights drum corp.

They raised their family in Marshfield and later moved to Plymouth.

Ralph followed in his father's and brother's footsteps as a truck driver for the Herald and Boston Globe Newspapers. He later became involved in the labor union; when he was first appointed as Trustee of the Teamster Union Local 259, South Boston, MA. Ralph moved up the ranks through elected positions from Vice President to full-time and Principal Officer, Secretary-Treasurer and Business Agent. He held the position until his retirement in 2007. Ralph also represented Teamster Local 259 at the International Brotherhood of Teamsters conventions on the Resolutions Committee and managed the Pension funds.

Ralph and Polly traveled extensively through the years and loved their "extended-family" trips to New Hampshire; as well as the bright lights and the entertainment in the Casinos in Las Vegas and in Disney World, Florida.

Ralph was the son of the late Victor A. and Mildred P. (Jennings) Goscinak.

He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Polly (Patno) Goscinak; his daughter, Lisa Hassan and her husband, Edward; his sons Christopher Goscinak and David Goscinak.

Ralph was blessed with 6 grandchildren; 4 step-grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; and more currently expected this year.

He is survived by his loving sister, Patricia Goscinak Garnett, Marshfield; brother-in-law, H.P. Patno and his wife, Bettina, New Jersey; sister-in-law Virginia Patno, Stoneham; and pre-deceased by his brothers, Robert Goscinak, Ronald Goscinak and Roger Goscinak. He will be missed by many loving nieces and nephews and their families as well.

Ralph was my landlord in the Teamsters building in South Boston for almost a decade. Nice guy, reasonable landlord, helpful with repairs. Good memories. Best wishes to his family.

Before and after I was in the union I would bump into Ralph occasionally. He was a warm and friendly spirit and a good friend to chat with. My prayers go out to his wife and family, and especially his son Chis who l worked with at News Distributors. God bless from a coworker. Paul Reiser Sr. J
