Ralph O. Whitcomb

WHITCOMB, Ralph O. Age 89, of Brooksby Village, Peabody, formerly of West Boylston & Pocasset. Beloved husband of the late Evelyn J. (Pires) Whitcomb, died Wednesday morning. Ralph was the father of the late Linda Curran & is survived by his daughters, Judith Hanrahan & her husband Martin & Betsy Murphy & her husband Stephen, his grandchildren, Bryan, Michael & Sean Murphy and Christopher Hanrahan, Caitlyn Russell & Patrick & John Curran, his 5 great grandchildren, his sisters, June Marvin & Jane Leslie, his son-in-law, John Curran & many nieces & nephews. He was also the brother of the late Jackie Dolan, Edgar & Lorenz Whitcomb. He was raised & educated in West Boylston. An honorably discharged decorated veteran, Mr. Whitcomb, served his country as a member of the 181st Infantry Regiment, 26th Infantry Division of the United States Army during WW II. For his valor he was awarded the Bronze Medal, the Conduct Infantry Badge & retired at the Rank of Lieutenant Colonel. Mr. Whitcomb had been employed with the Town of West Boylston in the Municipal Light Department. A long time resident of West Boylston, he resided in Pocasset for over twenty five years, until recently moving to Brooksby Village in Peabody. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather & great grandfather who will be deeply missed. His Funeral Mass will be held Saturday at 11 A.M. in the Chapel at Brooksby Village, Peabody.
