REMO AVELANI Obituary

AVELLANI Jr., Remo "Ray" Gino Remo "Ray" Gino Avellani Jr., age 52 of Somerville, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, March 24th at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center with his loving family by his side. Remo was born and raised in Somerville and lived there his entire life. Remo was a graduate of Christopher Columbus High School. He was an avid hockey fan and loved the Bruins. He enjoyed his annual visits to Las Vegas with close friends, had a love of German Shepherds and recently developed a passion for gardening, especially tending to the family grapevine and growing his own ghost peppers. He was proud of his Italian heritage and strong familial ties-he was always there for anyone that needed anything. Remo had a strong work ethic and was loyal and genuine. He worked in retail management for 30+ years. Remo was the devoted son of Pierina (Massaro) Avellani and the late Remo, Sr. Cherished brother of Linda and Evan Libro of Billerica, Angela Avellani-Oddi and Frank Oddi of Hyde Park, and Peter Avellani and Dawn Haggis of Pelham, NH. Godson of Giovanni and Graziella Del Monaco. Remo was the adored godfather of Joseph Libro and Cameron Avellani. Treasured uncle of Elizabeth Libro, Nicholas Avellani, Donatella Oddi, Francesca Oddi and Chloe Avellani. Remo embraced the value of family beyond measure and instilled the importance of family in each of his nieces and nephews from the beginning of their lives. He is also survived by many loving aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. Funeral from the Dello Russo Funeral Home, 306 Main St., MEDFORD on Thursday, March 31st at 10AM, followed by a Funeral Mass in St. Clement Church, 71 Warner Street, Medford, MA at 11AM. Relatives and friends are cordially invited. Services will conclude with Entombment in Woodlawn Cemetery. Visiting Hours will be held on Wednesday, March 30th from 4-8PM. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be sent in Remo's name to the Gilmanton Fire Department, 1824 NH-140. Gilmanton Iron Works, NH. 03837. I´m so sorry to hear this news. Although I haven´t seen Remo in about 40 years I always thought of him as my childhood best friend. I also remember Remo as a really nice and kind kid. My thoughts are with his family.

So sorry to hear about the passing of Remo. He was just such a kind and caring man, someone who I was lucky to have as a friend. He was the ultimate family man and a great role model for his nieces and nephews. My thoughts are with the entire Avelani family. May he Rest In Peace.
