To Kay & Family,
It's been almost a year since Rich's passing and I just heard about it at the St. Williams "Last Dance" event where I fully expected to see Richie last weekend. I'm so sorry for your loss and thank you for loaning Richie out to the community for so many decades. Richie was the face of Savin Hill and he dedicated himself to the community and its kids. Rich coached me in softball and also gave his time to both the prep and senior bands of St. Williams. Savin Hill lost a great community advocate and many of us lost a good friend.
May you rest in peace, Rich!

to kay and family,i am so saddened by richie's passing.seems like just the other day i saw him walking up the street.he gave me a lot as i was growing up.he was the best coach i have ever known.he made such a difference in so many lives.it was a priveledge to have known him.sincerely,karen pavidis

Richie was a great guy. I grew up next door to him and his family on Playstead Road. He got all us kids together putting his campaign signs together and then driving around installing them and plastering his "flyahs" all over Savin Hill. We were all riding around on our bikes plastered with those bright yellow bumper stickers. I remember every 4th of July Richie would be on the street passing out Hoodsies to all the kids, and every Halloween he would scare the**** out of us wearing that old fright mask and leaping out from his cellar...He made a big difference to all the kids in the neighborhood by getting funding for the parks and rec. and keeping the beach up nice. He was a great father figure to his own 8 PLUS all the others who played with them. Saw him just last summer on his porch during a beach trip with my kids and he was still the same friendly nice guy. God bless all his kids who I remember fondly.

To Tom and the Finnigan Family,
Tom although I never met your father I'm sure he was a great man as the other comments attest and also because he raised a son like you to be a great family man. As a fellow veteran I also thank him for his service to his country and his family. We will keep him and your family in our prayers during this time.

To Janice and the whole Finnegan Family,
The Hegartys considered ourselves very lucky to have your dad in our lives. He always made us laugh and had a great way of seeing things. As far as his coaching, both girls had him for years, and Janice, he passed down is love for kids onto you because Katie was lucky enough to have both of you and he definitely passed down his passion for the community onto you. He will live on through his great family forever.

I will always remember Richie Finnigan and his great sense of community, honor and especially his sense of humor. We lived on Playstead Road when we were first married and he was such a great neighbor. But even more, he was a dear friend to my parents and family for as long as I can remember.
He will be truly missed.

I will always remember the good times we had at the Health and Welfare Retirement Board. Auz and I were still in high school and Mr. Finnigan made every working day a joy. I spoke to him last year after 40 years and realized what a great guy he was and how many great memories I had of Mr. Finnigan. I'm sure Uncle Tom and my Dad were there to greet him as he entered into heaven.

What great memories I have of Dick Finnigan, his wit and unfailing humor. He had an uncanny ability to insert himself into the discussion and his words of wisdom were treasures. I was always at the receiving end of his comments, and because of the thick skin he helped me to develop, I had many laughs. He made such an impact in so many lives and I only knew him through our work together in the labor movement. YES he was a humble man, I had no idea he was involved in so many endeavors. Without a supportive family, Dick wouldn't have been able to be the force he was in Savin Hill. Thank you Mrs. Finnigan and the Finnigan Family for sharing Dick with Savin Hill. He made a difference. Dick will be missed.

To my Dad's best friends family we are all so sorry for your loss. Richie was one of a kind!Savin Hill /St .William's community were so lucky to have had a man who gave so much to benefit so many. I think Richie impacted more kid's lives in the last 40 years than any of us will ever know. I and my family will miss him terribly.

Dick and I worked at the Fire Department and he was the President of our Union.. Activist is saying it lightly.. he was into the job at Fire and like all the others that knew him..he was a fun guy..If you asked him what he loved the most besides his family.. heck it was his softball girls.. he loved it. there must have been hundreds of them that went through that league ..and he followed them through High School. He was the master out there.
He worked in the office with Mary Barry, Annie Beggan, Marie Howard,Al Gianetti and Barbara Powers..they got the job done..Mary B said he was full of P and Vinegar..she was right.
He did his country proud too..with his pride in the Marines..all in all Dick will be missed by this fellow.. God Bless the family..

Our sympathies from the entire Bernie Moran family. We were all so sad to hear of your loss. He was such a big part of our family's history in Savin Hill ,the band, his wit and bantor. I met dick through the Look Ahead Diabetes Study. We both sign up the same day. Dick is a great guy i will miss him dearly. He is a funny guy. I will miss our laughs and talks. He talked a lot about his grand kids and his wife. We talked a lot about our diets and walks. He was a great walker.

I knew Richie my whole life. I work on Richie first campaign. He was a man with a lot of knowledge, always had time to stop and talk with you, he was a well respected man. Richie you will be miss by so many you did a lot for the us kids growing up in Savin Hill. Prayers and thoughts are with your precious wife and your children and grandchildren. I was a neighbor of Richies growing up on Denny Street. When he first ran for office I worked on his campaign in a store front in Uphams Corner. He was an impressive man to me as he was not only devoted to his family but committed to serving his fellow citizens.

Richie will really be missed around Savin Hill. He could often be seen at the park, the corner store, or taking a long walk. I was with him after Mass one Sunday morning when he told Father Crowley after one of his long winded sermons "Father, it it takes more than five minutes for you to say, it isn't worth saying".
We will all miss him.
