Richard John Flanagan

FLANAGAN, Richard John 76, of Naples, FL and York Beach, ME passed away peacefully on November 21, 2009, surrounded by his loving family. Dick was born in Somerville, MA on June 18, 1933, the son of the late Martin and Johanna Flanagan. He attended St. Clements School and Northeastern University. In 1953 he enlisted in the U. S. Marine Corps where he served 2 years. Dick was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather who enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, whether it was golfing, sailing, or kayaking. He was a member of the York Golf and Tennis Club and the Foxfire Golf and Country Club.Dick leaves his wife of 50 years, Margaret (Manning), and together they raised two children, their son, Martin of Montpelier, VT and their daughter, Maura, of York, ME. He also leaves his grandsons, Michael and Conlan, of York, ME; his brothers, William (Clare) of Winchester, MA, Paul (Lillian) of Venice, FL, Leo (Justine) of Dover, MA and Naples, FL, and his sister, Theresa Sheehan of Tucson, AZ. He was preceded in death by his grandson, Travis. A Memorial Mass will be held on Wed., Nov. 25th at 10:00 a.m. at St. Elizabeth Seton Catholic Church, 2760 52nd Terrace S.W., Naples, FL.
