In our thoughts. Thank you for raising such a wonderful son, I know he gets his kind heart and gentle ways from you. Glad I got to know you when I did. Rest peacefully in Gods glory.

Hi Dad- it's Bill,
It has been a year now since you passed away; hard to believe.
Ironically, a TV show was on tonight about a man that was in "a home" and he had magical powers. The person visiting him has known him for a long time. The visited person also looked similar to you, in some ways, at one time. Got me thinking about the "magical powers" you eminated when you were around most anyone. You were usually positive when all around may have been negative. Offered your expertise and knowledge, ideas when asked. Gave my sons your utmost attention always.
You taught me right and wrong and ethics. Most of all, most of all- you showed me how to be a good father to one's/my children. For that I will forever grateful!
You were a great husband with Mom too. Know she misses you, also relieses you are peace with pups.
Between the both of you, raised 3 good kids.
Good night Dad, Always in my thoughts.
Love Bill

Thank you, Dad, for never once telling me there was anything I couldn't do because I was a girl. Thank you for letting me play with dolls AND tools. Thank you for teaching me to love animals. Thank you for loving me for who I am. Semper Fidelis Dad. I will miss you.

Dick was a great teacher and a great mentor. I was fortunate enough to work for him when I got my first management job. Due to his guidance and model, I didn't crash and burn. Thank you Dick

I have so many memories of my family with Uncle Dick, Aunt Gerry, Bill, Rob & Susan! I'm blessed to have spent time with them. It's been a few years since we've all reunited...the love I felt yesterday was & is stronger than ever! Dick was an amazing person....kind, gentle, generous, honest, loving & real! Seeing Gerry, my 3 cousins, & meeting Bills' sons yesterday put a permanent smile in my heart! Bless you all....until we meet again! With Love!

Dick Scheide was a superb leader and a consummate gentleman. Working for him is a memory I will always cherish not only for his insights and personal warmth but also for his great talent for picking talent for his team. He assembled the most amazing cadre of thinkers, leaders and achievers at Bank of New England that I have ever had the pleasure to work with. His loyalty to his people and to the Bank of New England was fierce and he had an effective but gentle way of letting you know when you had missed his standards mark.He had my back several times when I had done so but he also gave my some big chances to advance my career, gambles for which I will be forever grateful. Whatever I learned about sales and management I first learned from him.He was a prince of a man and Gerry was his rock. God bless him and his family.

I did not Know Richard Scheide, but I was in sigma phi at Williams with his brother Phil. Phil was a senior when I came in as a frosh in 1949. He flew an aeronca Champ and Scout at the flying club, which I later ran. I then bought a cessna 140 with the group of 20 members. Phil took me up in the champ in fall 1949 at Mt.Greylock N Adams Mass, and I had already a piper cub seaplane solo rating from Saugatuck River CT. Later I moved back from CA and DC and NYC to East Haddam CT near Phil's Joshua Tree home at Lyme CT. May they both rest in peace.

Mr. Scheide as he was referred to, was my boss' boss back in the day when there was a Bank of New England. It was my first real job and Dick was an impressive figure - very serious about his work but also very engaged with people. What a wonderful man to have known! Wishing your family many happy memories of him.

Rest in peace dear Pop Pop. I will never eat strawberry rhubarb jam without thinking of you. Hope you are fishing with your pups and horses. Prayers for all the Scheides for peace and God's loving embrace in your time of sorrow
