Evy, Bob, and Sean,
We still can not believe that vibrant and strong 'Big Bob' has passed. We miss his intelligence and his humor and his lovable laugh. Life was never easy for you, Evy, and Bobby, but you both tackled life's adversitis together and rose above them. Our thoughts and prayers are with you all. May Bobby's memory be eternal.
Love, Fran, George, and Katie

There isn't much for me to add. I just wanted to share the way my dad taught me, and probably Bobby, how to swim. Toss you in the deep the end. When you're in over your head, you have two choices: Learn to swim or drown.
That's the approach he took with me for teaching me about programming. He gave me a goal and shoved me right in over my head. It was overwhelming. It was scary. My performance affected the whole family. Goals weren't always tangible, but you reached for them anyways.
When you're alone in the water, panicking and struggling, you can only count on yourself. You have to be self-reliant. Dad taught us to be self-learners and self-motivated. Two important life lessons that everyone needs. He also taught me, if you were lucky, you wouldn't stay down for long, as long as you have good friends and family.
My first introduction to the deep end didn't go so well. Dad jumped in and saved me. Anyone that worked with Bob (my father) knows if he bails you out, you have to learn from your mistakes. My next attempt at swimming involved him launching me off the docks at Ames Pond. I swam to the dock and pulled myself out. It was ugly and it was messy... just like the first application I wrote.

I only knew Bob as a work aquaintance, however he was a very nice person and he will be missed here at Biogen. I recently lost my wife to this terrible disease and I know how hard it is on family and close friends.
We will never have a good answer as to why, so we must rely on our family unity to get through it. God's speed.

A great man has passed.
Bob Clairmont was and still is a great husband, a great father, a great grandfather, a great friend, a great man, a hero, and a role model.
I was lucky enough to be part of a select group of privileged individuals who got to experience both the personal and professional parts of Bob’s life. The individuals who got to experience something that is pretty much indescribable. Everyone else can only imagine the amount of passion, loyalty, commitment, satisfaction, and comfort Bob offered. With Bob on your team, you were never alone, and there was no doubt you would succeed
I was lucky enough to call Bob “Dad”, a man I am extremely proud of.
He will be deeply missed, but will always be in our hearts.
