Robert Dexter Obituary

DEXTER, Robert L. 74, of Merrimack, NH, and formerly of Watertown, and Allston, MA died Friday, May 1, 2009, in Nashua, NH after a long illness. He was born in Boston, MA on July 18, 1934 a son of the late Johnathan L. and Geraldine (Ryan) Dexter. Mr. Dexter was a US Navy veteran serving during the Korean War, and was a member of the American Legion Post 98 in Merrimack. He worked for 45 years with the Weatherell Brothers Steel Company in Cambridge, MA, retiring as a foreman. Mr. Dexter was an active member and past Grand Knight with the Knights of Columbus Council 555 in Allston, MA and the 155 in Watertown, MA. He was also a member of the fourth degree with the Knights. Members of his family include his wife of 54 years, Margaret (Morrison) Dexter of Merrimack, a son and daughter in-law, Robert & Stephanie Dexter of Coventry, CT, three daughters and sons in-law, Margaret & Bill McGrath, Bradford, MA, Laura & Steve Merrow, LaVergne, TN, and Patricia & Paul Sandberg, Charlton, MA, and a daughter Deborah Walsh and her fiancée John of Greensboro, NC, 19 grandchildren, and 10 great-grandchildren, a sister and brother in-law, Shirley and Jess Newby of Florida, and several nieces and nephews. Calling hours are Tuesday from 1-3 & 7-9 pm in the George R. Rivet Funeral Home, 425 Daniel Webster Hwy, MERRIMACK, NH. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in Our Lady of Mercy Church, 16 Baboosic Lake Rd., Merrimack, NH Wed. at 2 PM. Burial will follow in Last Rest Cemetery, Merrimack.
