Robert D. Heileman

HEILEMAN, Robert D. Formerly of Winchester, died Dec. 5, at the age of 83. Born in Somerville, he and his family lived with his maternal grandparents in Walpole, MA, during the Depression. He moved to Melrose at the age of 14, and graduated from Melrose High in 1943. He served in the 450th Army Air Force Base Unit from 1943 - 1946, attaining the rank of Sergeant. He was trained as a radio operator on the B-29. He graduated from Tufts University with a B.S. in Chemistry in 1949. In the 1960's, he was President and owner of Evans Supply Company, Winchester, MA and held several pneumatic tool patents. He was the New England District Sales Manager for Dana Corporation, headquartered in Toledo, Ohio, from 1972 until his retirement in 1991. He died at Sunrise Assisted Living in Leominster, MA, where he was a much loved resident for the past two years. Beloved husband of Esther Jonah Heileman, to whom he was married from October 1999 until his death. Survived by his three children and their spouses, Janet and Edward Luongo of New Ipswich, NH, David and Diane Heileman of Halifax, VT, and Elizabeth and John Speziale of Billerica, MA. Loving grandfather of Matthew Oliveira and his wife Lori of New Ipswich, NH, Christopher Speziale, of Astoria, NY, Timothy and Sara Speziale of Billerica, MA, Robert David Heileman and Kassidi Heileman Ramirez, of Halifax, VT, Melanie Olajos and her husband Tom of Colchester, CT. He is also survived by two great-grandsons, twelve nieces and nephews, and many members of the Hambrook family and Collings family from his second and third marriages. He is predeceased by his parents, Dorothy Estes Heileman and Calvin Marx Heileman. Brother of the late Richard C. Heileman of Santa Monica, CA, and the late Ruth Cass of Simpsonville, SC. He was married to the late Jeane Shimer of Melrose and Winchester, MA from 1946 until her death in 1994. He was married to Jane Lois McLaughlin Hambrook of Easton, PA, from 1996 until her death in 1998. The family will receive friends and relatives at Lane's Funeral Home, 760 Main Street, WINCHESTER, MA, from 4-7 pm on Tuesday, Dec. 8. He will be buried beside his wife Jeane in Wildwood Cemetery, Winchester, MA. Graveside services will be private.
