ROBERT KRAMER Obituary

KRAMER, Robert Architect, loved and admired by family, friends, and colleagues Robert Kramer, a long-time resident of Brookline, Massachusetts, died on March 24, 2023, at the age of 92. He was born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, on November 3, 1930, and grew up in several states before moving to Brookline with his wife, Jean Hiatt Kramer, in 1964. He majored in English at Amherst College, earned a degree from the Harvard Graduate School of Design, and pursued a 50-year career as an architect in Boston specializing in K-12 schools. He was a member of the Boston Society of Architects and served as president in the mid 1970s. Mr. Kramer enlisted in the U.S. Navy in the 1950s, and served with the Seventh Fleet in Japan, the Philippines, and Taiwan. In Brookline, Mr. Kramer was the founder of his local neighborhood association, a town meeting member, and chairman of the Brookline Planning Board. Although his health declined in recent years, Mr. Kramer passed away peacefully surrounded by family members and caregivers who helped him remain in his home. Mr. Kramer was preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, Jean Hiatt Kramer; and his sister, Joan Kramer Holt. He is survived by his daughter, Margaret; his son, William; four grandchildren, and a legion of friends and neighbors.
