Frank Sousa here. Rudy and I played the center of the Stoneham High 1949 football term. We both went about 150 pounds; but that did not count the weight of our hearts. No one, no one, made an inch through the line. On offence were anchored Pie Pinato and we moved some big guys aside.
In one game we pulled out to lead the play. I pulled the wrong way and we both fell to the ground. We got up and both ran left. The play was to the right.
We loved football and each other; but we enjoyed raising hell just as much. Toss in Johnny Maffeo as the third guard and there yoo have sheer joy.
I was injured and did not play in the Thanksgiving Day game. The only consolation was Johnny got to play an entire game with Rudy.

Our sympathy to the Minghella Family on the passing of Rudy. We have known him for many years through our childrens sports and other activities. Although we live in S.C. we still keep in touch with our Stoneham friends. RIP Rudy.

My sincere condolences to the entire Minghella Family. Rudy was a great and loyal friend. I have many fond memories of his visits to Wolfeboro and the great meals he use to cook. Rest in Peace Rudy. You will be sorely missed.

My deepest sympathy to the Minghella family also my thoughts and prayers.
My family and I have known Rudy for sixty plus years and I have many fond memories going back to when I was ten years old.
I reconnected with Rudy several years ago when Johnny told me that he resided at Bear Hill and enjoyed several visits talking about old times and pictures that I printed and framed for him when he was in the Navy.
Everyone at Bear Hill not only staff but other family members knew who Rudy was which shows that he touched many people.
Some people come into our life and are quickly gone.
Some people come into our life, leave foot prints on our hearts and we are never ever the same.
I have no doubt that Rudy has touched many hearts including mine and I feel blessed to have known such a special man.
God Bless,
Helena (Veno) Enos
