RUTH HICKEY

Hickey, Ruth (Bannon)
Age 84, March 5, 1928 - February 2, 2013. Ruth was born in Boston, Massachusetts to the late Joseph and Helen (McLoughlin) Bannon and was the sister of Joseph Bannon of Watertown, MA, and the late William Bannon, Robert Bannon, and Joanne (Bannon) McGrath. Ruth graduated from Brighton High School in 1945 and immediately began working as an operator at AT&T. She was the beloved wife for 60 years to the late Walter Hickey and they lived in Framingham, MA, for 40 years. She worked for the Framingham Teachers Association and retired from Zayre Corp. (1989). They resided in Palm Harbor, Florida since 1994. Ruth was a member of the Highland Lakes Women's, Concert, and Travel Clubs. A Catholic, she attended St. Luke the Evangelist Church. She leaves behind her son William Hickey and his partner Patti Tuohy of Ashland, MA; daughter Patricia and her husband Stephen Ryan of Marietta, GA; daughter Kathleen and her husband Alan Helliwell of Marlboro, MA; daughter Barbara and her husband Donald Gignac of Medway, MA; and daughter Laura and her husband John Neal of Peoria, AZ. Family and friends were Ruth's passion and delight and she received much joy from her 14 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren, and her dear friends. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, February 8, at 9:30 a.m. at St. Luke's, 2757 Alderman Rd., Palm Harbor with internment immediately following at Sylvan Abbey Cemetery, 2853 Sunset Point Rd, Clearwater. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to your local Hospice care facility or the Lupus Foundation of America.
