SALLY HATCH Obituary

HATCH, Sally Stouten Of Concord, NH, formerly of Boston, MA and Buffalo, NY, died Monday, February 5, 2024. She was 75. She was the beloved daughter of the late David John Stouten and Mary Tornow Stouten. She was the loving, longtime partner of the late Paul Martel. Sally was the loving mother of Tamara Hatch Seiter and her husband, Paul, of San Diego, CA. She was the proud grandmother of Chase, Emily, Adam, Coleson, Macey, and Kara Seiter of San Diego, CA. She was the devoted sister of Molly Stouten and her husband, Steve Terrill, of Greensboro, NC. Sally was born and raised in Buffalo, NY, where she graduated from The Buffalo Seminary. She graduated from Green Mountain Junior College, in Vermont, in 1968. Sally built a successful career over the course of two decades, working in financial services in New York City and Boston. She reached a high level of professional leadership and accomplished significant vocational achievements. Upon relocating to New Hampshire, she worked for The Community Loan Fund as Director of Investor Relations. She was a founding member of the Kent Street Coalition, serving on the leadership team and leading the Voting Rights Working Group. She contributed to her community in many ways, spoke out passionately for causes she believed in, and volunteered generously of her time to charitable and political causes. Sally had friends going back decades and had the special knack of developing new friends at every turn. Those friendships sustained her and she valued them deeply. No one was closer to Sally's heart, however, than her family. She was so proud of her daughter, son-in-law, and six grandchildren. They brought her deep, unbounded joy. Molly was her only sibling, and they had a lifetime of memories that only two sisters could share. Finally, she was utterly devoted to her dog, Mack, who was her best friend and loyal companion and accompanied her everywhere. Services and a Celebration of Sally's Life will be held at 4:00 p.m. at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, 90 Clinton St., Concord, NH, Sunday, February 11. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, those who wish may make a donation in Sally's name to Open Democracy, 4 Park Street, #301, Concord, NH 03301 or online at www.opendemocracynh.org/sally_hatch

Sally was a very close friend of my sister's, Mary Walker Oshei. After Mary's death, Sally kept in touch with Mary's daughter, Estelle Oshei Mahony who died 3 years ago. Just before Estelle died, I reconnected Sally and Estelle and we all shared loving exchanges. She was a strong woman and will be remembered fondly by all of those who knew her growing up in Buffalo.
