FACELLA, Samuel J. "Sam" 94, of Winthrop, died peacefully on Oct. 13, surrounded by his loving family. Beloved husband of the late Florence (Calabrese). Devoted father of Lucille F. and her husband Dr. John Cafarella of Swampscott, Mia Facella and her husband Robert Wilson of Swampscott, Dr. Carol Facella and her husband Michael Ervolini of Winthrop, and Dr. Frank Facella of Boston. Respected brother of Paul Facella and wife Norma of Melrose, Sara Sirois and husband Larry, Frances Daly and the late Rose Sibelle, all of Winthrop. Loving grandfather of Nina (Morello) Raymond and husband Keith, Dr. Michael Cafarella and wife Dr. Caroline Barsoum, Rachel Cafarella and Joy Marie Facella-Ervolini. Great grandfather of Sophia and Peter Raymond. Funeral from the Ernest P. Caggiano and Son Funeral Home 147 Winthrop St., WINTHROP on Monday at 9AM followed by a funeral mass in St. John the Evangelist Church, 320 Winthrop St., Winthrop at 10AM. Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend the visitation on Sunday from 4-8PM. Interment to follow the Mass in the Cross St. section of Winthrop Cemetery. Retired in 1972 from the Boston Naval Shipyard and was a WWll veteran serving as a sergeant in the Army Amphibian Engineers.
