Scott CHIMENTI Obituary

CHIMENTI, Scott Louis December 17, 1971 to June 23, 2024

Passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, June 23, while vacationing with his family in Alaska. He was 52 years young, vibrant and full of life, with a huge heart and generous spirit that endeared him to many.

Born and raised in Paramus, New Jersey, Scott attended Ridge Ranch Elementary School and Paramus High School, where he established a core group of foundational 'Jersey' friends, who remained important to him throughout his life. He was the youngest of three siblings, who derived great joy from summers spent vacationing near relatives and cousins at the family's cottage in Old Lyme, CT, built by their maternal grandfather.

Scott moved to Boston to attend, and subsequently graduate from, Northeastern University with a B.S. in Business in 1995. While at Northeastern and during his early years in Boston, Scott made other groups of lifelong friends, many whom he continued to see and socialize with in Boston through events, gatherings and travels. It was in Boston where Scott met his wife of 17 years, Laurie and where he spent all of his career working in IT and financial services.

A kind-hearted extrovert who loved people, socializing and parties, Scott relished sharing laughs and stories with friends, family and acquaintances alike. He loved sports, particularly skiing, running, golf, sailing, basketball and most recently, pickleball, joining the Charlestown Picalars mens' group. He completed two Boston marathons, finishing in under four hours on his second. He was a great lover of all-things Boston Celtics and was overjoyed to witness his team win Banner #18, just prior to his untimely death. He was a lover of Halloween costumes, travel, dogs (especially his beloved Bunker), practical jokes, '80s rock music, his Italian heritage and his family and wide community of friends.

Among his many accomplishments, however, Scott loved nothing more and derived his greatest joy from his son, Andrew. He sought to be an even-handed father, raising his son to be kind, humble and empathetic, all traits that he himself embodied. He spent countless hours watching and helping to coach Andrew's Charlestown little league and soccer teams over the years, as well as town and school basketball teams and more recently, Boston Warriors AAU basketball. His unwavering affection for Andrew was evident to all who knew him and his face would light up every time he was asked about an AAU win or a particular shot or goal scored by Andrew. He was particularly proud to celebrate Andrew's graduation from 6th grade at Park Street School in mid-June.

Scott is survived by his wife, Laurie; and son, Andrew; as well as his brother, George Chimenti of Little Falls, NJ; and his brother-in-law, Salvatore Vona of Wyckoff, NJ. He is also survived by his loving nieces, Gabriella and Olivia Vona and Patricia Chimenti. His memory will be cherished by many cousins, aunts, uncles and friends. Scott was preceded in death by his mother, Marie Chimenti; and his sister, Christine Chimenti Vona.

The Chimenti family wishes to thank the medical personnel and staff of the University of Washington Medical Center cardiac ICU, Bartlett Regional Hospital in Juneau, Alaska and the pilots and nurses of Airlift Northwest, who tried bravely to save Scott and who treated Scott, Laurie and Andrew with compassion and caring during his final days.

A Service Celebrating Scott's Life will be scheduled in Boston in the near future. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a gift in Scott's honor to the American Lyme Disease Foundation at aldf.com

Scott was a lifelong friend of mine and my heart is broken at his passing. As one of his "Jersey Friends," it was always wonderful to catch up with him. Whether ten years or ten weeks had passed, it always felt like no time had passed at all. My prayers go out to Laurie, Andrew, and the entire Chimenti family during this difficult time.

We were so saddened to hear about Scott´s untimely passing. I always enjoyed our little chats in the training field where he would walk Bunker and wait for his son to be dropped off by the bus after school. Always smiling, patient and kind. Our deepest condolences to his family and may time and wonderful memories bring some peace.
God Bless~

Scott worked in my area at John Hancock when he was starting out in the IT world. He always had a great smile, sense of humor and was so affable and
approachable. I don´t think there was anyone Scott couldn´t have gotten along with - he was just the kind of guy that drew people to him. We got to know each other more years after I left JH when I worked at Wegmans in Medford. Scott always stopped by my dept for a chat and a hug whenever he was in the store, and I looked forward to conversations with him. During every visit, he spoke about Andrew and his family, with deep love and pride. He was truly a good man, and I am so sorry for his family and friends who will have to find a way to go on without him. Prayers and condolences to Laurie, Andrew, and all those who loved Scott. RIP dear Scott, and thank you for the great talks and hugs

Scott was good friends with my brother Billy and lived around the corner from us growing up. He was always so incredibly kind, had a smile on his face, a ready laugh, and interested in what you had to say. Scott was a special person, one who will always be remembered and bring a smile to my face. My prayers are with his brother, wife and son.

As one of John Cogswell's childhood crew, Scott was a great addition to our family. And we are family. He will be deeply missed and always remembered. Though nothing really lessons the pain except time, please find peace in the fact that Chementi touched the world and the ripples he made will go on forever through his friends and family.
My condolences

Scott was my Grandson´s coach in soccer and helped also in Basketball. He was a great guy and loved coaching and helping out with basketball. He loved his son and he also loved his teammates. He will be missed by everyone that came in contact with him in Charlestown. Laurie and Andrew try not to remember how he died but how he lived and honor him that way.Grizzy
