SCOTT OGLEVEE Obituary

OGLEVEE, Scott W. Born in Salamanca, NY, 67 years ago to Joyce (Dahlgren) and Hugh D. Oglevee. He passed away peacefully, at his home in Dover, MA, on March 14, 2023, where he resided for more than 36 years with his wife, Deb and their four children. Scott graduated from Salamanca High School with a NY State Regents Scholarship and attended SUNY Buffalo where he graduated with a degree in Architecture and went on to become a licensed architect. Early on in his career, he was intrigued with the possibilities that computers could play in design and building and worked for Sasaki Associates in Watertown, MA on CAD, computer-aided design. He later worked for Autodesk for 12 years, ultimately as Director of Business Development. Scott distinguished himself for making great hires and developing a highly regarded team. He was a mentor to many and his ability to relate to the needs of clients in the Architecture Engineering and Construction (AEC) sector were keys to his success. Scott served on the Dover School Committee from 1996-2002 and chaired the committee from 1998-1999 and again in 2001-2002. During this time, Dover had two elementary schools, K-2 at the old Chickering School and 3-5 at Caryl School. Scott was committed to having a K-5 school on the Chickering site and was instrumental in getting the town's support to build the new Chickering School, completed in August 2001. Scott was an avid reader and educated himself by reading everything he could on a topic, often leading to ultimate passions. He was an avid bicycle rider, for many years, riding his bike round-trip each day from Dover to Waltham for work. He researched bicycle frames and components and built his dream bike. He knew computers were going to change the way we lived; he bought and read the very first issue of PC magazine and all of the issues that followed. And he was a skilled photographer, embracing digital photography long before it became widely accepted and earning a number of awards for his digital photos. Scott absolutely loved listening to music and at the top of his list was the band Yes. Friends that had the good fortune of attending a Yes concert with him were treated to his unsurpassed and vast knowledge of Yes history. Though Scott was a man with many passions, his ultimate love was his family. He put high value on his children's educations and their extracurricular activities. Thousands of hours and car miles were dedicated to hockey, football, lacrosse, soccer, basketball, swim team and Boy and Girl Scouts throughout his children's elementary, middle and high school years. Many years ago, Scott and Deb bought a cabin on Newfound Lake in NH to enhance family time together. Scott loved the summer seasons at the lake taking his children tubing and water skiing, building fires for s'mores, grilling and tinkering. Scott is survived by his wife, Deb, to whom he was happily married for almost 37 years; his one and only son, Andrew (Bailey); and his beautiful daughters, Meredith (Johnny), Catherine (Marc) DeLorenzo, and Elisabeth; and one extraordinary grandson, James. Scott also loved his brother, Dan (Lorri) of Little Valley, NY and sister, Nance (Garth) Jackson of Jamestown, NY; and the many nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews they gave him. Scott will be so fondly remembered for his insatiable curiosity and love of learning, his kind heart, and his palpable love for family and good friends. He will be missed every day. A Celebration of Life Service will be held in the near future. Please contact family for details. Scott was the director of my team at Autodesk and I had the pleasure of working with him for several years. Scott had a unique balance of being a sensitive manager and mentor while also being an ambitious and driven leader. The work he pioneered at Autodesk is continuing to this day and into the future with a group of professionals that have been inspired and guided by Scott's leadership. His life and career will be remembered with joy from those who had the pleasure of working with him. Deepest condolences to the loved ones he left behind, may his memory live on.

I worked with Scott for many years at Autodesk. He was such a smart, intelligent, balanced, thoughtful person and I am proud to have known Scott and worked with him. He had a long view on strategy. He convinced me, that business development is key to the success and to drive "designed-in" and BIM mandates. And look where we are today - BIM mandates all over the world issues by governments. I trusted his instinct and conviction. I will always remember Scott and carry him in my heart and memories.
May your hearts soon be filled with wonderful memories of joyful times together as you celebrate a life well lived.

Hello Oglevees. Hopefully you know how much we loved Scott and we will always remember the wonderful times in NH. He was definitely one of a kind, a true Renaissance man. We often remarked about the stories he'd tell his children - short little tidbits with lots of life lessons. He was the best and we will miss him very much. Roberta and Harry
