ACONE, Stephen Renzo Of Winthrop. Late Winthrop Police Officer Stephen R. Acone, at the age of 47. Steve passed away after a long illness with his loving family at his bedside, on August 14, 2013. Beloved son of the late Renzo & Judith (Hewitt) Acone. Husband of Bridget A. (Mulkerrin) Acone. Loving brother of Donna L. Acone of Winthrop. Cherished uncle of Paul, Cameron & Stephen. Loving nephew of Donald & Brenda Acone of Winthrop, Best friend of Joseph & Constance Mara of Winthrop & John Twomey, former Superintendent of the Suffolk County Sheriff Department, Police Chief Terence Delehanty Winthrop P.D. and many other family. Funeral from the Maurice W. Kirby Funeral Home, 210 Winthrop St., WINTHROP, on Sat., August 17th at 9 AM. A Funeral Mass will be held in St. John the Evangelist Church-Winthrop, at 10 AM. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited. Visiting hours will be held in the funeral home on Friday, August 16th from 4-8 PM. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Stephens memory may be made to the Massachusetts General Hospital, Brain Tumor Center, Yawkey Building 9th Floor, Boston, MA 02114. Steve was a former Auxiliary Police Sergeant Winthrop P.D., former Sergeant with Suffolk County Sheriffs Department for 9 years, Police Officer with the Winthrop Police Department for 22 years, with 27 years in law enforcement.
