Suzanne Brebbia Obituary

BREBBIA, Suzanne Passed away on Sunday, January 10, 2010 in Castine, Maine. She was born on May 30, 1934, in Boston, MA and raised in Brookline, MA. Ms. Brebbia was the daughter of the late J. Dante Brebbia and Gertrude Hogan Brebbia. After graduating from Brookline High School she received a Bachelor's Degree from Regis College in Weston, MA and continued her studies at Boston University in the field of education. She was a faculty member of schools in El Paso, TX, Dedham, MA and for thirty years in Montgomery County Public Schools, MD. As a teacher, she always adhered to a standard of excellence and was held in high esteem by generations of her students, their parents, and her colleagues. The world will be poorer for her passing. Following her retirement from Woodacres Elementary in Bethesda, MD in 1992, she became a year round resident in Castine. Her survivors include her dear friend Jane Warker of Castine, two brothers, Dr. Dante Robert Brebbia (Anne Fulboam Brebbia) of Pearl River, NY, John Henry Brebbia (Patricia Burke Brebbia) of Las Vegas, NV, 10 nieces and nephews, 18 great nieces and nephews, cousins Deborah Grandy of Washington, DC, Diane Grandy Smigel (John) of McLean, VA, Malcolm D. Grandy of Wellesley, MA, Janet Purdy Truslow (Al) and Virginia Purdy McPherson of McMinnville, OR, and many cherished friends. A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated by the Rev. Bruce M. Siket, Parochial Vicar, on Saturday, January 16 at 10:00 am at Our Lady of Holy Hope in Castine. Burial will be on Saturday, January 23, at 12:15 p.m, Woodlawn Cemetery, Wellesley, MA and will be officiated by the Rev. Mark J. Riley, Parochial Vicar, St. Paul's Parish. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Theo's Work care of Lawrence and Danielle Mutty, P.O. Box 573, Castine, ME 04421.
