SYLVIA JENKINS

1949 - 2022

JENKINS, Sylvia Age 73, of Hanover, MA, passed away on August 13, 2022. She was surrounded by her husband, James Henderson and her son, Jaime Wilson. She was born in Weymouth on July 12, 1949, the daughter of Dorothy and Ken Jenkins. She grew up in Hingham and graduated from Hingham High School in 1967. She attended Colby College, where she earned a degree in Education and later went on to earn a Master's Degree in Special Education from Lesley College. She spent her career teaching and tutoring countless students in the Hingham School System. She is survived by her loving husband, James Henderson; her beloved son, Jaime Wilson; her two grandchildren, Tyler and Amber; her four siblings, Randy, his wife, Pam and their three children, Danny, Becky, and Matt; Meri Colbert and her son, Chris; Maddie Ouellette, her husband, Michael and their daughter, Olivia; Annie Jenkins and her wife, Kristy Walter; and 10 great-nieces and nephews. Sylvia, also lovingly known as "Syl" and "Babe," served many different roles to people throughout her life. She was an intellect, a poet, and a gifted writer. She was a musician and a singer who loved to harmonize. She was also able to whip up a song for family occasions, at the drop of a hat. She spent several summers at Fleur de Lis Camp and in her later years, became an avid sailor. She will always be remembered at the helm, the sun on her face and the ocean breeze at her back. Most of all, she was a bright light that will continue to shine on all of our lives. A Celebration of Her Life will be held at a future date.
