Dad,
I love you! I wonder about how our conversations over the last would have gone if I could hear your responses. Thank you for being my angel and protecting me. I´m sure you had a hand in it because it could have been so much worse.

We always enjoyed it when Tim would be at functions. He was always upbeat and made the party lots of fun. He was not only part of the Bush family but also the Andrea family. We will always miss him. Tim, I hope you and our Debbie enjoy each others company. She loved you as much as we did. We love you Tim.

It doesn't seem like a year since we lost Tim. He's with me every day, everytime I see a Dunkin Donuts, a Globe or the Hilltop, many more things like that.

Sometimes, waking up in the morning and starting to plan my day, I think I haven't seen Tim in a while. Then I remember Tim is gone.

Tim will always be with us.

Tim,I miss you and am with Kathy and Jim right now remembering our times growing up. We just came from the Dockside where your picture still hangs in respect for you. My parents always thought of you as a loving "boy" and they watched out for you as "secondary parents". Hopefully you are at peace and you will be in my heart forever.

My precious Tim, in a week or so you will be gone a year. It feels like you left us yesterday. My heart is still breaking, because I miss you so much.I know now when you come to me, it's through the song" What a wonderful world". That was the singing birthday card you sent me on my 60th birthday. There have been 2 ocassions that I needed to hear from you, and that song came on the radio, at the exact moment I needed you. With mom it was always our rainbows we always talked about when she hugged me. She has been gone 10 years, but she is with me always. I know you both are so happy to be together, and you are keeping us safe. I can't wait to be with you both some day. Please keep coming to me when I need you and mom. I love you both with all my heart and soul. Hug dad for me. Loving you forever. Kathleen xxxxoooo

I will always remember the love and generosity you showed for our family. Thank you for all you've done through the years. I'll miss the O'Brien & Currier holiday dinners we had when I was growing up... I'll miss the stories you always had to tell... it just won't be the same with you gone. I wish I had taken you up on your offer to golf when I saw you last in May. You will be missed. I love you, Uncle Tim. Ciao.

My precious Tim. You have been gone 4 Months and my heart is still breaking. I have your picture of you and I on my headboard next to me and mom, and I still kiss both pictures goodnight every night. I miss you both sooo much that some days i can't stand the ache in my heart. I love you both more than life itself. I know mom and dad are happy you are with them, and I pray that you are watching over all of us who miss you soooooo much. I know you would have said good-by to me if you could. If I had known that hug and kiss was my last that you gave me on May 3rd. at Dallas airport, I would have hugged you allittle longer and alittle tighter, but I didn't know it was good-by forever. Tim, I love and miss you so bad. LOVING YOU FOREVER YOUR SISTER KATHLEEN XXOO

Tim was our friend for forty five years. From the earliest day of our friendship we recognized that his magnetic personality drew people to him. Tim had a knack for making those he associated with feel good about themselves. He was loyal, caring, considerate, and compassionate. He made friends for life. Tim knew right from wrong and lived his life accordingly.

Over the years some of the meaningful memories, we have of our friendship with Tim are: double dating with Tim and Jane; conversations in the kitchen of Holyoke Street; meeting and talking with Tim's mother; sharing the births and early years of our children; Tim and Jane visiting us in Colorado; Tim living with us in Lexington; his love of our corned beef dinners, no matter which one of us cooked, there was always a plate for Uncle Tim brought to sent to work, or picked up; the many phone calls, so and so died, I will pick you up, (Jim and Tim attended four wakes in one week.); the many times he drove our son and his wife to and from the airport; the calls on Mother's Day, Christmas, Easter, Thanksgiving sending us warm greetings and good wishes.

These are a few of the intimate connections, that will not be, and have not been duplicated in any of our other friendships. We miss Tim now, we will miss him twenty years from now,his spirit will always be with us. The love forged in our friendship will not fade.

Tim was not only a great friend to my father, but to my entire family. My late grandparents enjoyed coffee talks with him at Dockside, my brother and dad have great memories from a trip to Florida, and my aunt is forever grateful for his open room. I'll always remember Tim with a smile: he was such a giving man and the best Santa around. My thoughts and prayers are with his family.

Timothy V. O'Brien

July 11, 2008

I (Tim O’Brien)
Was a son, a brother, a husband, a dad, a papa, a grampa, an uncle, a lover, a golfer, an honorary submariner and most of all a friend.
He lived his life by the Irish claddagh-Friendship, love, and loyalty
Do not mourn the loss- but celebrate the life
Be sorry not that he is gone, but sorry for the people that did not know him.
He knew no strangers, for after five minutes with him he knew your whole family history.
He was an extraordinary man that lived an ordinary life. He lived and died on his own terms-with no bells and no whistles.
He often said I don’t need a lot of things because you can’t take it with you. But he was the richest man in the world because of your friendships.
He lived each day to the fullest as it were his last and taught us that life is not fair and that there are no guaranties.
He taught kids to ski, that was his thing.
He taught the HR dept at the Globe what a Mental Health day was.
He once pulled a man a man from a burning car and never mentioned it.
He would pick up stranded travelers on the side of the road and drive them to where ever no matter what the distance. And some times bring them to dinner.
He has probably dropped off or picked up many of us here on more than one occasion at Logan airport-but “remember if I am not there I had to loop around because the statie chased me off”. This was a task he did graciously for us no matter what the time was, and he wanted nothing in return.
He loved to fly; he said when in the air you are closer to heaven.
We remember driving in the car asking “please stop freezing us out”, or you can’t get in the car until your ice cream is gone doesn’t matter if it is raining “eat faster”.
We remember the stops at the Egg.
No matter where we traveled - he would always find a mass and call us- “be ready at 5.”
Hyo do me a favor- a pack of Luckies and a cream with 1 sugar.
Party of six for Sioux city.
Don’t touch the check, or you own it.
To Dad we say thank you! For the ways you touched our lives.
“Thank you” means you didn’t have to….. But we are grateful that you did.
“Thank you” means that you have done some thing special for us that we will never forget.
On Wednesday he was given his wings. He was an angel on earth and he is now an angel in heaven.
I know it is not fair, don’t ask why. Know that his prayers were answered that the angel of mercy took away his pain. He is always with you, talk to him and listen.
He taught us kids and even adults to thank god everyday for the beauty and wonder of the world in which we live. “Thank you God”.
The day he died was tumultuous day weather wise (raining and pouring) when his pain was lifted the weather broke, and as we were driving in the car the sun was setting in the west, we all said “thank you God” at the same time. It was dad.
Yesterday is a memory
Tomorrow is a mystery
Today is a gift that is why they call it the “present”
Life is a journey and his life was traveled by many and dad said “it was a hell of a Ride”
No regrets, He never said good bye, He cashed out and walked away a winner.

To Dad we say: Fair winds and following seas, Today’s your day, “We Love you, God Bless you, Ciao

Timmy, Chris, Jen, and Kara, I cannot begin to express how much your dad meant to me and my family. I wish more than anything we could have been there with you and I hope you are all doing ok. Uncle Tim was one of my favorite people on this earth. I have so many fond memories of our family trips. Trying to read the bill without touching it, and meeting new "friends" everywhere we went. On our trip to San Diego last summer I went down to the lobby to find him opening the door to the hotel and greeting guests. I assumed he was working there and tried to get an employee discount, but he wouldn't go for it. LOL. I cannot remember a significant moment in my life that Uncle Tim was not a part of. I will remember him always. (Uncle Tim, Uncle Tim) I love you guys and I hope to see you soon!!!!!! OOOOXXXX

Dear Tim, Christine, Jennifer, Kara

What can I say. Your Dad's loss is overwhelming. Wish I could be there to give your all a big warm hug.
We have so many childhood memories together with you four and the memories shared with your Dad. He came to see me at the nursing home four weeks ago. It was a long ride and it was a very humid day. Looking back, I believe he came to say goodbye because he stood in back of his car watching me, Tricia, Jimmy and Linda and that moment in time is how I will forever remember him. Your Dad loved you and you loved him and that is the most important blessing in the world. Love, Aunt Ellie

What can I say about my Uncle Tim……except that he will be missed very much by all of us who knew him and loved him. He lived his life with such enthusiasm. He made the simplest things in life exciting. He knew no strangers and I like to think I learned this from him as well. He always treated everyone he met in his daily life with respect and integrity. If you had the pleasure of having dinner with him in a restaurant or a cup of coffee at Dunkin Donuts then you know that whoever waited on him always had a smile on their face because of his kindness. I will always treasure my memories of him and consider it a privilege to have called him my Uncle.

My heart is broken for all of you. Your Dad was such a great man and we will never forget the way he touched our lives by being so sweet and kind to our mother and our family. He made me laugh through some very trying times. He was one of a kind and he will be greatly missed! Much Love, Ellie

T.V.
I can't believe you left us. All who worked with you at The Globe are feeling a tremendous sense of loss. You were everyone's friend and brother in Local 3. "Mario" and I send our deepest sympathy to your family. She reminded me yesterday you were the first "Globie" she met so many years ago at The Golden Egg. Rest in peace my brother! I'll bring you a large cream one sugar when it's my time. God bless.

I will always remember him for his quick wit...and his undeniable charm.

Tim, Christine, Jennifer, and Kara. Aunt Loretta and I were so saddened to hear of the passing of your father. He was quite a guy to have known, always smiling and willing to offer help to anyone who needed it. He was always there for all of you and did everything that you could expect from a loving and caring father. We are so sorry that we can't be with you at this time but we will share your sorrow in our thoughts and prayers.

God Bless You,
Aunt Loretta and Uncle Bob

Tim, Christine, Jennifer, and Kara, our heavy hearts are with you and all of our loving Aunts, Uncles, and cousins. God has moved so mightily with this family these past months. Uncle Tim, you are a strong man! You loved our mother with your whole heart and blessed her every Monday with your presence. God has truly called another angel home. May you all know how much each and every one of you means to us.
