WESLEY J. "WES" MARSHALL

1944 - 2023

MARSHALL, Wesley J. "Wes" Died peacefully, in his sleep, on January 18, 2023, at home in Marblehead, MA. Wes was a graduate of Claymont High School, University of Rochester and Boston University School of Law. He was preceded in death by his mother, Irene Jeffers Johnson of New York, NY and his father, Wesley J. Marshall, Sr. of Englewood, NJ. He is survived by his sister, Phyllis Irvine of Temescal Valley, CA; his former wife, Andrea Lorraine of Salem, MA; and many loving cousins and friends. Wes retired in 2022, after almost 25 years at Morrison Mahoney LLP as a Partner. He concentrated on legal matters involving the environment, oil spills, hazardous waste, Superfund sites and was a true specialist. Before joining Morrison Mahoney, he served as Asst. Secretary and General Counsel for the Massachusetts Executive Office of Environmental Affairs, where he assisted in drafting the MGL c. 91 regulations, which were important regulations governing the controversial development of the downtown Boston waterfront. Whether a client required risk management, permitting advice or zealous representation in court, they were in Wes' capable hands. As busy as the practice of law kept him over the course of his career, Wes enjoyed skiing, the ocean and the beach, writing, photography, and watching sports, he was an avid NE Patriots fan. He was a kind and thoughtful man with an amazing sense of humor. Without even cracking a smile, Wes could have an entire roomful of people laughing out loud. A Celebration of Life will be held in Wes' honor on a future date to be determined. You'll be sorely missed my friend. Rest in peace.
