DOWNEY Arthur F. of Squantum, formerly of South Boston, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family on July 2, 2010. Adoring husband and best friend for over 57 years of Annie (Gately) Downey. Loving father of Marie Downey and Dan McDevitt, Anne and her husband Lawrence Buechs, BFD, Catherine Downey and Jack Tinlin, Arthur and his wife Judith, Dorothy, Joseph, Daniel, and the late Mary “Mimi” Downey. Cherished grandfather of Justin Downey, Taryn and Megan Baker, Emma Downey, Tristan, Lawrence, Kayla and Konrad Buechs, Julianne, Jeremy, Katie Downey and Connor Galvin Downey. Great grandfather of Aidan and Connor Downey, Michael Arthur and Sophia Anne Reardon, Ava and Chloe Hawko. Son of the late John and Catherine (Hurley) Downey. Brother of the late Chester, Paul, John, Catherine, Frederick, Walter, William, Anna, Esther and Alfred Downey. Funeral from the O’Brien Funeral Home, 146 Dorchester Street, SOUTH BOSTON on Thursday at 10:00 A.M. Funeral Mass in Gate of Heaven Church at 11:00 A.M. Relatives and friends invited. Visiting hours Wednesday 3:00-8:00 P.M. Arthur was a Retired Building Inspector for the City of Boston and a proud U.S. Army Veteran.
