Janet Neilson Obituary

Janet B. Neilson of Canton, a dietician, died Tuesday. She was 79.
Born and raised in Whitinsville, Mrs. Neilson was a resident of Canton.
She attended Skidmore College and the University of Massachusetts at Amherst, where she graduated with a degree in home economics.
Mrs. Neilson began her career as a dietician working in test kitchens for Duncan Hines in New York City. She later worked for Massachusetts Hospital School in Canton.
She enjoyed traveling to the Caribbean and playing bridge, and she was an avid reader.
Mrs. Neilson is survived by two daughters, Katharine DeTore of Weston and Linda Martin of Scituate; two sons, Andrew of Groton and David of Wellesley; a brother, David Ball of Scituate; and nine grandchildren.
Funeral services and burial will be private.
