Jack gave me my start as a law clerk in his Boston office in 1983 when he was practicing with his partner, Timothy O'Connell. Just read about his sad passing and wanted to express my condolences. I practiced law (criminal defense) in Pittsfield, Mass from 1985 to 2011 when I retired and moved to Hong Kong to teach wing chun kung fu. Jack loved life and was a "larger than life" personality. He will be missed.

To Edye and the family of Jack --
I remember meeting Jack for the first time at Billy McCarthy's office in Charlestown. He was a most charming guy -- not because he was seeking favor, but because he was a Mensch in the most estimable sense of the word.
We became fast friends. During the years I knew him, we worked together, traded confidences, spoke about the classics and philosophy. He was a very learned man. And funny, even when he was angry. One could not have a better friend than Jack Cullen.
One of my fondest memories is the time I spent at Jack and Edye's New Hampshire home. I had the firehouse entirely to myself and would rise at first light to collect wild blueberries for Edye.
I know you can hear me, Jack: I'm grateful for all the help and support
you so freely gave.
Edye, know that Jack will always be in my heart and mind.

We were so glad that Jack was able to marry us two years ago this month. He and Edye made this private ceremony so personal for us. We will miss his sense of humor and friendship.
