Joseph McNulty Obituary

McNULTY Joseph James 55, of Allen, Texas died December 19, 2009 after a long brave battle with cancer. Joe was born on October 17, 1954, in Jamaica, New York, the son of Rita and Edward McNulty. Joe spent his childhood in Fords, New Jersey and Milton, Massachusetts along with his five siblings, Edward, Gerry, Mary, Danny and Rita. Following in the footsteps of his FBI agent father, Joe chose a career in law enforcement. After graduating from Bridgewater State College, Joe relocated to Dallas, Texas where he joined the Dallas Police Department. Joe lived life to the fullest enjoying summers in Green Harbor, MA at the beach as well as many days spent with his family on his boat on Texas Lakes. Joe shared his love of music at family events and with friends. He taught both of his daughters the guitar. His oldest son, Joseph, had spirited debates about politics, which influenced his choice to pursue a law degree. His youngest son, Jack, played select baseball and now plays for John Paul IT High School. His dad never missed a game. Joe is survived by his wife, Julie and his four children: Joseph 22; Jamie 21; Mandy 19: and Jack 15. All family and friends of Joseph McNulty are invited to a memorial service at St. Jude's Catholic Church in Allen, Texas on January 9, 2010 at 11 am. I can't believe it has been 10 years. I still think about Joe on occasion and fondly remember our friendship. What a great guy he was.! I certainly hope and pray that Julie and the kids are doing well.

Joe taught me how to enjoy life, I enjoyed 4 years of college with the greatest person I ever met, laughed every day and sang Cat Stevens songs.

Joe was a high school friend of mine - I moved to Milton in 10th grade, and Joe was one of the first to make me feel welcome. His ever-present smile and twinkle in his eyes were the first glimpse of the fun personality inside. When I saw Joe at our last reunion, he was just the same - still laughing, having fun; the life of the party! I'm so sorry to hear of his illness and passing, and my thoughts and prayers are with his family. And like many others, I'm sure, I feel lucky to have known him.

Joe McNulty was an original piece of work! The first time I met him he was at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic School and he was working the STA Carnival security detail. He used to pick up Monsignor Forliti and drive him around to get him out of the retirement home. Once, he drove him to my dad's house and turned on the siren and flashing lights and let Forliti broadcast on the loudspeaker. Forliti's high pitched voice telling my dad, "Johnny Campagna, come on out, you're under arrest"! Joe's smiling face and warm and sincere personality will be terribly missed by all who knew him. God Bless you Joe!

I met Joe through his older brother, Ed. I quickly learned of the special, enduring and everlasting bond between Joe and big brother Ed.

Joe was not only the BEST man at Ed's wedding, they were the best of friends.

Joe was a great guy, a good friend and quite the character.

No bond is as great as that between a family - Joe's mother Rita, his sisters and brothers and especially Joe's spouse Julie and his children.

My deepest condolences are with all of you as you grieve.

I knew Joe in Junior High School and High School. He always appeared to have a great time at anything he did. One day I went into my clsss and there were rows of tacks on my seat. I looked over at a smiling Joe and I immediately knew who put them there. I do not remember Joe without a smile on his face. I will always remember him for his wit, smile, and just an all around good guy. Glad to have known you Joe! Rest easy.
