I only got to have the knowledge that I had a Great Aunt Marita for a short while, but having Marita as my Great Aunt was one of the best surprises of my life.

Nancy, Resa, Patrick, George and David,
My sincere condolences on the loss of your beloved mother ~ we shared many long chats under her straw umbrella in Ogunquit and how she would scold Dan for giving your dad and ice cream from Charlie's. You were all there for all of us in our time of need and she always made it a point to talk to me. She was a gem ~ the jewel in the Doherty crown. I know I speak for my entire family in expressing our love for Marita. She is now with your Dad ~ they were both so devoted to one another and to all of you. You are all in our thoughts and prayers. May her memory be eternal.

Nancy, Resa, Patrick, George and David ...
It's with great sadness that I comment today ... Aunt Marita was truly the matriarch of our family for decades, and the legacy she leaves through her children and your families is a tribute to a life well lived. There was always an energy that lit up a room by her mere presence, and she most assuredly will be missed by all those who knew and loved her ...

To The Doherty Family, On behalf of our entire Lynch family we offer our sincere condolences at this time of loss. Great memories of your parents and our parents spending many trips to Florida & Ogunquit, as well as the many business office visits to us hear in Davis Square. Always enjoyed our conversations with Marita. On behalf of my mother Eileen, our entire family and also the staff of Garrett-Lynch Insurance, May God bless your family in this time of sorrow. Sincerely, Jay Lynch

When I think of Marita, the first thing that comes to mind is classy lady. She carried herself through the world with an elegance that will continue to inspire all of us.
I will be forever grateful for her fierce protectiveness of us in our childhood and her unwavering support and love as adults. Marita and George were always in our corner. I will be forever grateful for her inclusiveness of my mother Erayna when she arrived here from Germany and Marita 'showed her the ropes".
Marita's nickname in the family, given to her by our beloved Grammy Molly, was "My gift from God". While our gift from God has gone to join him, the gifts she leaves us, dignity, class, love, perseverance, fierceness and humor will live on.
Her humor comes through in the video of her famous "Toast".
Nancy, Resa, Patrick, Georgie, and David, your Mom will be deeply missed.
All my love
Heidi

Nancy, Resa, Patrick, George and David, My heart is heavy reading that your Mom has passed. Marita was a class act; always loving, kind and good. As someone said her legacy, and your Dad's, will live on through you all; it does already! Such a wonderful family we consider as our own; always there for us in our time of need. You're in our thoughts and prayers and we hope wonderful memories will comfort you and your family in the days/weeks ahead; cherish them. No doubt there are so many of them. With love and great respect to all, Janis and Roy Smith

How I loved you Aunt Marita....you were a loving Godmother, the best anyone could have. I will miss your smile, your loving hug and always your kind, happy and loving words. So many happy memories like Christmas night at your home on Washington St (always made Christmas so special) and how you held my dads hand as he passed. You were so loyal and loving to my mom (sister) She always thought of you as her sister. I could go on forever about the loving memories I have. You will be in my heart forever

Patrick, Resa & Nancy & family ...
It was our privilege to know Mrs. Doherty and it was a joy to be in her presence whether she was tending to the Home in Somerville or relaxing in OGT on the Maine beach. She was the epitome of grace, class and kindness with just enough sass. She leaves a rich legacy through her children, grand children and great grandchildren that our family prays will give your family peace now and always.
Much love
