Michael Janko Obituary

Michael A. Janko – a resident of Woburn and Massachusetts State Police retiree, passed away peacefully, January 16th at the age of seventy-nine. He was the beloved husband of Patricia A. (Williams) Janko. Born and raised in Cambridge, he was a graduate of Rindge Technical high school. He was also for many years a resident of Stoneham and Woburn. Mike was a son of the late Alexander and Margaret (Matthews) Janko.

Following high school, Mike started a career in law enforcement as a police officer for the Stoneham Police Department. A few years later he became a Massachusetts State Trooper, where he served the people of the Commonwealth for over a long career as a member of the Massachusetts State Police. He was a dedicated and loyal member of the force.

In his free time, Mike enjoyed traveling with his wife and enjoying the outdoors. In the summers, Mike and Patti would spend time boating and camping. He loved taking rides on his Harley, and could fix or build anything. He was also an animal lover and avid sports fan.

In addition to his wife, Patti, Mike is survived and will be deeply missed by his children, Michael Janko, his wife Nancy and their family, of Arlington and Jacqueline Janko, her husband Joseph Ordonez of Huntington Beach, CA. Dear brother of the late Alexander Janko, his wife Phyllis of Stoneham, and the late Patricia Silva, her late husband Richard. Loving uncle of Michael Janko, his wife Brigitte Fortin of Marblehead and Thomas Janko, his wife Kelly of Stoneham. Adored great-uncle of Sean, Elizabeth, Kyle and Casen and also survived by his beloved dog, Maggie.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to pay their respects, Friday, January 20th, from 12:30 – 2 p.m. in the Lynch-Cantillon Funeral Home 263 Main St., Woburn, with a prayer service to follow at 2 p.m. In Lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Michael's memory to MSPCA-Angell Attn: Donations, 350 South Huntington Ave., Boston, MA 02130

Dear Patti,
I just heard of Mike's passing from you neighbor across the street. I'm so sorry for you! Mike was a great guy! Tough on the outside, but sincere on the inside. Please accept my sympathy.
