Rick McLaughlin Obituary

McLAUGHLIN Rick of Quincy, passed away suddenly on September 27, 2011. Beloved husband of Tricia (Bertucci) McLaughlin, and loving father of Lucy Karen and Molly Frances. Cherished son of Richard McLaughlin of Quincy and Dorothy Egan of Braintree. Loving brother of Jason of Quincy, Sean of Boston, and Amy of Braintree. Grandson of Mary Egan of Rockland. Also survived by many friends, aunts, uncles, cousins, extended family and his niece and nephew, whom he loved dearly. Rick experienced life to the fullest. His time spent with his girls is where his heart shined the brightest, especially during his weekly trips to Brighams. His adoration and love for his wife and daughters was admired by all. He was the core for his friends and family through the best and worst of times. Whether it was a simple cookout in the summer or charity events around the city, Rick’s presence was always felt. Some of his favorite weekly and annual events were Standishpaloser (A charity event for his longtime friend), the bowling league, softball, morning golf and trips across the country. Rick had a passion for his work, music, sports and of course playing his drums. He embodied the definition of a “man’s man”. His creative spirit, as well as his pranks, will be missed by all. Rick worked for many years at ING and also as a Realtor at Keller Williams. He worked tirelessly to provide for his family. Our lives will forever be saddened without his smile and laughter. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the visiting hours Sunday from 2:00-6:00 P.M. in the Keohane Funeral Home, 785 Hancock St., QUINCY. A Celebration of Life Service will be held in the Funeral Home at 10:00 A.M. on Monday prior to the Funeral Mass in St. Ann’s Church, Quincy, at 11:00 A.M. Burial in Blue Hill Cemetery, Braintree. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Lucy and Molly McLaughlin Fund, Eastern Bank, c/o Terry Belotti, 731 Hancock St., Quincy, MA, 02170. Tricia,
I continue to think of you, Lucy, Molly, your family and extended family. Every day I wish strength and peace be with you. Over the days, I heard so many amazing things about your husband and I hope that those stories and memories will be a comfort to you and your girls as time goes on. I was amazed at your composure and your strength on Sunday and Monday and I could only think that his love for you instilled that in you and kept you afloat. I hope that continues for you all.

I would like to light a candle in memory of Rick. I hired Rick 14 years ago when I used to manage a pricing and trading group. I remember what a happy person he was and how he was always willing to help out. I eventually moved on and so did he. I would still bump into him in the elevator and in the hallway, and no matter what, he always had a smile on his face. I am so sad for the family and friends of Rick, especially his wife and two little girls. May your fondest memories of him help lessen the sadness in your hearts. My thoughts and prayers are with you all.
