Thomas Itri Obituary

age 67, of Braintree, formerly of South Boston, died peacefully, Tuesday, October 19, 2021, in the comfort of his home, surrounded by his loving family and friends, after a valiant battle against cancer.

Thomas was born in Boston, to the late Anthony and Marie (Jenness) Itri. Raised in South Boston, he was a graduate of Saint Paul's Choir School and the former Don Bosco Technical High School. He earned his Bachelor's degree from the Wentworth Institute.

Tom had lived in Braintree for twenty-five years, previously in South Boston.

Tom was employed as an electronic engineer for the Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority for twenty-five years and had been retired for many years.

He was a member of the Knights of Columbus of South Boston and the Castle Island Association. Tom also volunteered as a coach for Braintree Youth Basketball.

Tom enjoyed cooking and gardening. When he wanted to try something different, whether it be a new brownie recipe or gardening technique, he would work on it until it was perfect. He had a creative mind as evidenced by the model trains and towns he would build and he could MacGyver a solution for anything. He had a passion for music and played in various bands over the years. He was also an avid Boston sports fan.

Most of all, Tom was devoted to his family, especially his wife and daughters, actively supporting their many activities and accomplishments.

Beloved husband for thirty-seven years of Angela (Keefe) Itri.

Devoted father of Adrienne Sheehan and her husband Michael, Leigh Itri and her fiancé Charlie Small.

Dear brother of Anthony Itri and his late wife Donna, Ann Mirisola and her late husband Thomas, and the late Marie Seminara.

Tom is survived by his mother-in-law, Mary Keefe; his brother-in-law, Paul Keefe and his wife Karen; many nieces and nephews, and a loyal group of childhood friends.

I was saddened to hear that Tommy had passed. I net him when we were 17 and played in bands with him for several years. He was a kind generous man who was always fun to be around. My condolences to Angela and the rest of the Itri family.
