Thomas J. "Tom" Tinlin

1939 - 2021

of West Yarmouth, originally South Boston, MA passed away peacefully after a lengthy illness on Thursday, September 2, 2021, with his children by his side. Tom was born in South Boston on July 3, 1939, to Louise (McMahon) Tinlin. He is predeceased by his loving wives Anne (Madden) Tinlin and Catherine (Clark) Tinlin. He cherished them both and was married to each for over 25 years. Also predeceased by his sister Carol Pistorino and his brothers John and Robert Tinlin. Tom is the loving father of Kelly Nee and her husband Coleman of Walpole, Kerry Stoopack of West Yarmouth, and Thomas J. Tinlin and his wife Kristin Heather of South Boston. Devoted Papa of Coleman and Christopher Nee, Kylie Burd and her husband Greg, Ben and Jaycie Stoopack, and Thomas and Grace Tinlin. Doting great grandfather of Liliana and Leo Burd. Loving brother of Joseph Tinlin and his wife Judy, Margery Lyons and her husband Joe, Sr. Paula Tinlin, SND, his brother-in-law Robert Pistorino and sister-in-law Elaine Tinlin. Tom is also survived by his sisters-in-law with whom he had a very special relationship and was so welcomed into their family. Carol (Clark) Poole and her husband John, and Mary (Clark) Mahoney and her husband Matt. Also survived by many loving nieces, nephews, and friends. Tom was a proud 40+ year member of Teamsters Local 25. Upon his lengthy two-day retirement, he began work at Fenway Part for Aramark. There he became the "beer man". He liked to boast that during his time at Fenway due to his efforts of meticulously caring for various taps, lines and kegs and demanding that only the freshest beer be poured, beer sales skyrocketed. The increased revenue, he said, helped produce four World Series Championship teams during his tenure. Tom is a proud veteran, having left South Boston High School early to join the United States Air Force. Also, a proud life member of the South Boston Yacht Club, where he would hold office hours on Sundays on the veranda or in the Sunroom. Tom and his family would like to extend their most sincere thanks to the men and women at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Boston, Cape Cod Hospital, Alliance Health at Marina Bay, and Kindred Hospice. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to greet the family during the Visiting Hours on Tuesday September 7th from, 3pm-7pm in the O'Brien Funeral Home, 146 Dorchester Street, South Boston, MA 02127. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated in St. Brigid Church 845 East Broadway South Boston, MA 02127 on Wednesday, September 8th at 10am. Interment is private. Please be mindful of and observe the City of Boston mandate for face coverings at all in door services.
