Darryl Nathan Razzano, 79, a loving and deeply devoted husband, father, friend, uncle, grandfather, and great-grandfather, passed peacefully into heaven with his Savior and Lord Jesus in the quiet morning hours of Sunday, October 5th, 2025. His final weeks were spent in his daughter's home enjoying precious and loving family time, watching baseball, eating pie on the back deck, and playing peek-a-boo games with great-grandchildren.
Darryl was born July 24th, 1946, in Oakland, CA as the middle of three children to immigrant parents Eugene Razzano (Italy) and Helen Violet Fraki Razzano (Finland). He grew up in Walnut Creek, CA, attended Los Lomas High School, and excelled as a standout athlete in baseball, football, and basketball. By 16 years old he was playing semi-pro baseball, then transitioned to collegiate level basketball while attending Mount Diablo Community College.
In February 1967, he joined the United States Air Force, serving four years and stationed at Malmstrom Air Force base in Great Falls MT as a Missile Electronics Equipment Specialist. During this time, he also played basketball for the College of Great Falls. Here he met his forever date, Susan Nollmeyer, whom he married on July 18th, 1970. On a blustery winter day in December of 1970, while attending a small country church on the outskirts of Great Falls, Darryl prayed to surrender his heart to his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Two daughters later completed the family; Tami Rae born in 1971 and Eugenia Lee born in 1975.
After his military service was complete, Darryl and Susan moved to Wilsall, MT and became an integral part of the Nollmeyer farming and ranching operation. He earned a bachelor's degree in business management at Montana State University, then built a beautiful passive solar home for his family on the farm in 1984. In the early 90's, Darryl and Susan bought a cabin at Bridger Bowl Ski Area where they lived as he worked as a chief mechanic in the maintenance shop. He retired in 2011 to be the devoted fulltime caregiver for Susan who suffered a debilitating stroke. He cared for her with sacrificial love until her passing into heaven on February 4th, 2025.
Darryl spoke often with deep gratitude towards his athletic coaches, military leaders, and numerous godly friends. He was filled with thankfulness for the impact these relationships had on his character, life, and growth as a godly man. During his last evening, surrounded by family, he prayed before our evening meal, "Dear Heavenly Father...." He prayed for his family, God's grace and blessing over them, and expressed thankfulness for so many joys in his life. He walked to his bed that evening and his big, loving heart rested at 4:28 A.M.
Darryl is survived by his daughters, Tami (Ben) Peters and Eugenia Razzano; grandchildren, Whitney (Andrew) Knudsen, Darya (Joshua) Lester, and Nathan Peters; great-grandchildren, Benjamin Knudsen, Campbell Knudsen, and Parker Lester; his sister, Collette Cook; in addition to numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Susan; his parents; and his older sister, Darlene Jones.
A Graveside Service with Military Honors will be held Saturday, October 18, at 12:00 P.M. at the Veterans Columbarium in Sunset Hills Cemetery with a time of fellowship to follow at Grace Bible Church.
Arrangements are in the care of Dokken-Nelson Funeral Service.
