Dorthene Fisher Obituary

Dorthene Mary (Richmond) Fisher, 91, of Great Falls, formerly of Three Forks, died of natural causes Friday, March 25, 2011, at Cambridge Court.

A graveside service is planned in Three Forks Cemetery on April 26 at 1 p.m. A small reception will be held after the service in the annex building of the Methodist Church in Three Forks.

Schnider Funeral Home and K&L Mortuary are handling arrangements.

Survivors include a son, Fred Fisher of Des Moines, Wash.; a daughter, Mary DiLello of Great Falls; grandchildren, Christine Bartron of Edmonds, Wash., Gino DiLello of Denver, Colo., and Anna DiLello of Great Falls; two great-grandchildren, Max and Lucy.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold Fisher on Feb. 26, 1971.

Dorthene was born Dec. 25, 1919, to Henry Milton and Edith Lyle (Hayes) Richmond in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. The family moved to Miles City when she was 4 years of age. They later moved to Lewistown and then to Butte, where Dorthene attended schools, including business college. She worked at Shiner Furniture in Butte until moving to Bozeman, where she worked as a bookkeeper for a parts store. While there she met and married Harold Fisher, who was living in Norris at the time.

Harold and Dorthene lived in Norris for a short time, then moved to Three Forks. Harold and Dorthene started their own business repairing and selling cars and trucks. Dorthene managed the bookkeeping for the business. After Harold died on Feb. 26, 1971, she continued to live in Three Forks and started work for Kamp Implement Co in Belgrade until retirement. She eventually moved to Great Falls to be closer to her daughter.

Dorthene enjoyed decorating cakes and sold many of them. She even made her daughter and son-in-law, Mary and Tony's wedding cake. She loved gardening and playing bridge, and when Harold was alive, the family enjoyed spending time together camping.

Condolences for the family may be posted online at www.schniderfuneralhome.com.

Mary Dawn and Fred,
I feel so bad that I did not know that your mother had passed until today. I would have certainly attended the memorial if I had realized. Your mother was always a very special person to me in my early adult years and as a child. Your folks were special. Again so sorry I did not see the notice but know our hearts go out to you. It is not easy when our parents pass.

For Dorthene's Family: Cindy Lightner Sullivan here....Our prayers for your peace and comfort from my mom and myself...my dad, James Richmond Lightner, your mother's cousin, died about four years ago. My mother, Imp Lightner, and my dad visited with Dorthene in Montana some years ago and enjoyed the visit very much. My mom was asking about your mother a month or so ago and after searching on the internet we discovered that she had just passed away...we just wanted to extend our sympathy to you all....
