1972 - 2025

A Quiet Strength, A Complicated Soul

Jason Peter Cross (Crossy), 53, unexpectedly passed away on November 4, 2025 as the result of injuries sustained in a motorcycle accident near Emigrant, MT.

He was born in Helena, MT on August 25, 1972 and was adopted as an infant by Jake and Jan Cross. He attended Bozeman and Belgrade schools.

He married Heather Lee Ross on July 29, 2000 and was an integral part of raising Heather's daughter Aurora. Over the years they became 'parents' of German Shepherds Nicodemus, Delilah, Lyric, Nomad, Hasil, Gypsy, Honor & Gambler. Jason and Heather enjoyed taking their beloved dogs on long walks, river swims and camping trips and Jason found peace fly fishing Montana's magical waters. Known for his personal fashion style, Jason was easy to spot with his favorite heavy metal T-shirts (often with the sleeves cut off), black jeans and prized Vans shoes.

Jason was a skilled carpenter who took great pride in the residential and commercial projects he worked on throughout Montana and Washington State. He was also an excellent chef, loved cooking for family and friends and brought his sense of adventure into his dishes.

Whether shaped by personal pain, emotional isolation or the weight of memories, his inner world remained largely his own. It was difficult for those of us who cared deeply for him. We wanted to understand him more fully, to help him with what he bore alone. But he was often unreachable in ways that left us longing for connection. Yet we honor him for what he was able to overcome.

Jason is survived by his wife Heather, stepdaughter Aurora Boylan, current canine pals Honor, Gypsy and Gambler, in-laws Cherie and Bill Ross and many friends throughout Montana and Washington State.

He was predeceased by his adoptive father Jake Cross.

At his request cremation has taken place. Due to the holiday season and winter weather, an outdoor celebration of Jason's life will follow at a later date, for he so loved Montana's wide-open lands and blue skies. An announcement will be posted with local media.
