Sanroe Kaisler Obituary

Sanroe "Sam" Joseph Kaisler, Jr., 92, of Bozeman, Montana, passed away Feb. 2, 2017.

He was born Dec. 16, 1924, to Sanroe Joseph and Otilda Jane (Bolliger) Kaisler in Jamestown, North Dakota, where he grew up. He graduated in 1948 from Montana State University's School of Business and made Bozeman his home.

Sam married Helen Zoe Sturges on July 11, 1944, in Forsyth, Montana, and they raised four children. They were happily married for 70 years before Helen passed on Jan. 1, 2015. Sam was an independent insurance agent for Waite & Co, and he was very active in his community. He was a member of Sigma Chi Fraternity, was past President of Bozeman Jaycees, past Commander of the American Legion, Chairman of the Red Cross Blood Drive, past President of Montana Independent Insurance Agents, former President and Chairman of the Bozeman School Board, an original founder of Riverside Country Club and Golf Course and a member of the Chamber of Commerce.

He also enjoyed golfing, fishing and times spent with his many friends. He proudly served in the United States Army Air Corps during World War II as a B-17 tail gunner. He flew 35 combat missions out of England over Germany and was stationed in the European Theatre of Operations.

Sam was preceded in death by his parents, Sanroe and Otilda Kaisler, and his wife, Helen. He is survived by his daughters, Sammy Jo Dormody and Zoe Ann Anderson both of Arizona, Susan Allen of Montana; son, Scott J. Kaisler of California; six grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Per Sam's request, no services will be held.
