Vivian Mohl Obituary

With heavy hearts, the family of Vivian Edna Mohl, shares that she has passed away peacefully at her home at Morning Star Assisted Living in Idaho Falls.

Vivian was born on January 7, 1942, in Hazen, North Dakota, to Monica and Theophil Wiedrich, where she grew up on the family farm with her sister, Darlene, and brother, Willis. She was known throughout her life for her fierce love of her family and friends, her resilience, and her active spirit.

She married Jacob Mohl in November of 1960 in North Dakota, and the couple later moved to Montana, where their four children were born. After Jacob's passing, she met John Topp, and they spent the remainder of their lives together until John's passing in August of 2025.

Beginning in the early years of her career, Vivian worked at Gallatin Homes as an electrician. She was also known as the beloved "Coffee Lady" for many years, bringing great joy to her customers-especially when she dressed up for various holidays.

Vivian and John faithfully delivered the Bozeman Daily Chronicle for nearly 25 years, even through the tough Montana winters. In their retirement years, they wintered in Arizona, where they made many special friends.

She enjoyed camping, playing games, road trips to visit family in Polson and North Dakota, and-most of all-being surrounded by her family. Family get-togethers for holidays and any occasion delighted her, especially when it included games.

She was a devoted mother to her surviving children: Jacqueline (Dan) Kennedy, Jody (John Roscoe) Baker, Jamie Pope (Rich Merrill), and Jerome Mohl, all of Idaho Falls; Michael (Debby) Topp of Tennessee, Shirley (Simon) Lopez of Washington.

She later became a cherished Grandmother to: Amber Mize, Travis Mize, Jessica (Erik) Ponce, Amanda (Jason) Struhs, Dillon Pope, Tannor Langdon, Brylee Hentila, Trevor Mohl; Bryann (Eric) Halvorsen, Kristin (Aaron) Pease, Brooks (Channelle) Topp, Stephanie (Annah) Welch, Cody (Katie) Welch, Wyatt Welch; 20 great grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Vivian was preceded in death by her husband, Jacob Mohl; companion, John Topp; her parents, Monica and Theophil Wiedrich; her sister, Darlene Baszler; her brother, Willis Wiedrich; great grandson, Tayson Halvorsen; and other beloved family members who welcomed her home.

The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the Morning Star staff and the compassionate team at Alliance Home Health and Hospice for the love, care and support they provided to Vivian and her family.

Vivian lived a life defined by her fierce love for her family. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered.

Services are pending and will be announced at a later date.
