Earl Brethauer Obituary

Earl Marvin Brethauer

January 24, 1932 - March 8, 2025

Bradenton, Florida - Earl "Marvin" Brethauer, 93, of Bradenton, FL, passed away peacefully at home on March 8, 2025, surrounded by loved ones. He was born on January 24, 1932, in Parkersburg, WV, to parents Earl C. and Garnet (Wells) Brethauer.

He is survived by his wife, Leona; his children, Brady Brethauer (Joanne), Denise Santos, and Tracy Brethauer; as well as many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his brothers, Melvin of Sylvia, NC, and Gary (Janie) of Bradenton, FL. He was preceded in death by his brother, Larry of Lorida, FL.

Marvin moved to Bradenton and graduated from Manatee High School in 1950, remaining active with his graduating class and attending monthly luncheons. After high school, he served in the U.S. Army from 1952 to 1954, serving 16 months in Germany with an artillery unit. He then completed an electrical apprenticeship and went on to establish his own business, Brethauer Electric. After many years of serving Manatee County's electrical needs, he sold his business. He was a member of Future Farmers of America, Florida Cattlemen's Association, and the Bradenton Kiwanis Club.

Following his marriage to June (Seabourn) in 1973, he pursued his passion for farming and moved to Venezuela, where he operated a full-time dairy farm. After June's passing, he returned to Florida in 2010, reconnecting with family and friends. In 2020, he remarried Leona, rekindling their bond after being apart for 47 years.

Special thanks to Dr. Eva Laukhuf and her staff for their kindness and loving care over the years.

A service will be held on Saturday, April 26, 2025, at 1:00 p.m. at First Baptist Church of Ellenton, FL (1707 36th Ave E, Palmetto, FL). The service will be officiated by Pastor Cliff Mattox.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Marvin's honor to your local Future Farmers of America or Florida Cattlemen's Association.
