I've known the Readings for many years. After we sold our boat,Hugh & Carmen took me to Christmas parties at the yacht club. I also went on their boat several times, most memorable to see the tall ships in 1976. I also spent many fun weekends at their house. My parents (Herb & Dorothy Gage) were friends with Hugh & Carmen for many years.I kept in touch with Hugh for a while after he moved to Florida. A TRUELY GREAT GUY

In 1972/73, I had the opportunity to spend my junior year of high school in Scotch Plains, New Jersey with my Uncle Hugh, Aunt Carmen and family. I have many memories from my time with the Readings such as attending a West Point football game, exploring history in Boston and Salem, and spring break in Daytona Beach but my favorite time was spent sailing aboard the Rubaiyat out of Raritan Bay. I visited Bradenton in early February this year and am so grateful to have spent a little time with Uncle Hugh before his recent passing. He was a great man who will be missed by many.

Hugh was one of Raritan Yacht Clubs nicest memebers. He always had a smile and a kind word. He was one of the first people I met when I started working at Raritan Yacht Club. He Frank Garrod and Jack Rogan would always be at the club. I am very sorry to hear of his passing.

Hugh was my best friend. I met Hugh when I joined Raritan Yacht Club and I knew immediately
I wanted Hugh as a friend. Over the years we sailed together many times. I have a lifetime of memories from being on a boat with Hugh. As a friend we discussed everything and the advice I got from Hugh changed my life. I will miss him dearly.

Hugh was one of my Dad's closest friends while I was growing up, and I have many fond memories of both him and Carmen. Don't know that I've ever met a nicer, kinder man. I shared countless breakfasts on Saturday mornings with Hugh, and cannot eat a sunny-side-up egg without thinking of him. I'll always remember him as one of the best examples of what a man should be.

Hugh, wonderful Hugh. He was not only a great man, husband, father, grandfather but the epitome of a gentleman and a gentle man, but most of all being my dear friend and fellow christian. Here I am writing this and tears of joy and loss are in my eyes. He will be missed by all. My sincere condolences to all the family--God Bless and stay strong as you know that's what Hugh would want. I'm so saddened by this loss of my friend.
