Dear Kelly Family,

I am so sorry for the loss. I worked with the wrestling team for 4 years from 1996-2000. "Coach Kelly" was such a kind, giving man. He made those 4 years at MHS fun and exciting. He is greatly missed.

I went to MHS from 1998-2002, and wanted to express my sympathy to the Kelly family. I did not know Coach Kelly personally, but a lot of my friends did. I know he was well liked among the students, which can be a tough accomplishment in high school. I'm sorry for your loss.

I am very sorry for your loss. I had the honor of working with "Big Mike" while with the Macon Knights. We lived together this past season and granted that the sitution in Macon was less then favotable it was none the less a fun time being around Mike. I shall always remember our late night conversations about football and about life. He cared for the both of you very much, mentioning you every night. I will not forget him.

Many of the fondest memories I have of high school are from my invlovement as a stat for the wrestling team. Coach Kelly was an integral part of the program and always made trips, meets and practices a riot! He was a dedicated coach, pushing the guys to do their best, yet his sense of humor kept the grueling sport fun! Because of my hair, he always called me "Red" and to this day, no one can call me "Red" without me thinking of Coach.

Tony also remembers Coach from his football and wrestling days. He too remembers Coach's sense of humor and enthusiasm.

It was a moment of deep sadness Tony and I felt on hearing of Coach's passing. Our thoughts are with the family as they greive.

I feel very privileged to have been so close to Coach Kelly. I realized this person that I thought was a little ruff around the edges, was about the biggest “softy” I know. Coach new my wife and I since we were high school sweet hearts, never being afraid to let me know if I was out of line with her, to treat her right or he would get after me. Eleven years later and after having two kids he never once forgot to ask how my wife and kids were, and how I was personally. With him you never had to lie, you could always tell him the truth, he never judged.

Through Key Club I developed a great personal friendship, I learned a lot about him and that it did not take much to make that big guy cry at the drop of the hat. I will never forget when he won the award from Key Club honoring him as a faculty advisor; it was an incredible honor that he more than deserved. He gave his time though not for the awards but because it made peoples lives better, and that’s what he was about.

Coach Kelly asked me to join Kiwanis (well he told me to and I did) and over the last few years I have had the privilege of eating lunch with him on many Tuesdays. He was a true friend, and someone that I will miss dearly. Coach helped shape me into who I am today and for that I will for ever be grateful.

Belinda and John,

I am so sorry for your loss.

Mike was a nice distraction when he lived with me. He was such a help and he helped me during a difficult time just by being around and being someone to talk to. Thank you for allowing him into my life. I will miss him greatly. May God bless you and keep you all. You are all in my thoughts and prayers.
