Jeanne O'Donnell Quigley

Bradenton, Florida - Jeanne O'Donnell Quigley, 95, of Bradenton, FL, passed away March 19, 2022. Jeanne was born in Syracuse, NY in 1927, the daughter of the late Edward M. and Florence (Feeney) O'Donnell. She is predeceased by her loving husband of 68 years, James M. Quigley. She attended Most Holy Rosary School in Syracuse where she was a cheerleader. She graduated from the Convent School, Syracuse in 1944 and from Trinity College, Washington, DC in 1948. At Trinity College she was President of the Christ Child Society. Following College she was a caseworker in the Children's Division of the Onondaga County Welfare Department, working in both protective and intake areas of the department. She married James M. Quigley, Sr., on May 6, 1950.
She served the Syracuse community in the areas including, President of the Central New York Trinity College Alumni Association 1962-1965, Chairwoman of the Women's Catholic College Alumnae Ball 1966, Vice President and Board Member of St. Joseph Hospital Auxiliary Board 1962-1973 and the Corinthian Club Board Member 1962-1976. She and her husband were members of the Century Club and founding members of St. Ann Catholic Church. She supported the Cub Scouts as a Den Mother and the Campfire Girls as a sponsor affiliated with St. Ann's.
She was known for her competitive golf game. She was a member of the Women's 18 Hole Leagues at 3 country clubs including Bellevue Country Club of Syracuse, NY, The Elms Country Club of Lake Ontario in Sandy Creek, NY and the Bradenton Country Club in Bradenton, FL. She was a supporter of the sports of swimming, football, tennis, ice skating and skiing with family and friends.
In 1976 she relocated with her husband to Bradenton, FL where she was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and a founding member of Saints Peter & Paul the Apostles Catholic Churches. She served as a Girl Scout Sponsor at St. Joseph and a Founder of the Bereavement Committee. She started the St. Joseph Eucharistic Ministry Program at Blake Medical Center. She served at both churches as a Eucharistic Minister. She founded the Homebound Ministry affiliated with Saints Peter & Paul the Apostles Catholic Church Parish. In Bradenton she served the United Way as a tour guide 1980-1984.
She promoted Catholic Education and sponsored a student at Cardinal Mooney Catholic High School in Sarasota, FL. In 2010 she moved to Freedom Village of Bradenton, FL, where she participated in swimming and community activities. In 2019 she moved to Surrey Place in Bradenton, FL.
Jeanne is survived by her six children; James (Loretta) Quigley, Jr., Mary Jeanne "Marnie" (Dr. Robert) Kern, Anne (Michael) Coley, Elizabeth (Joseph) Price, Julie (Philip) Smith and Laurie (Dr. Mark) Seigh; 12 grandchildren; Robert James (Krista) Kern, Michael James (Danielle) Coley, Sean Quigley (Aneta) Kern, Catherine Elizabeth Coley, John Michael Quigley, Joseph James Whitney) Price, Dr. Genevieve Elizabeth (Andrew) McKinley, Julie Mary (Sam) Laskey, Philip Smith IV, Thomas Quigley Smith, Patrick James Seigh and Peter Quigley Seigh; and 11 great-grandchildren.
