It is a sad day when we must say "good-by" to childhood friends and classmates. Growing up in Palmetto was a classic "small town" experience and I feel blessed that Johnny Pope and I got to share those happy times together. May God's face shine upon him and give him peace.

John was a fine gentleman who always seemed to have a smile and a laugh. He will be missed.

My mind goes back to the 40's when we were children enjoying birthday parties and pick up baseball in backyards. You were Johnny Pope then. During summers, we played mean games of Canasta at the beach. These will always be my best memories, and as long as I share a friendship with your sister, Alice, they will be cherished memories. Go with God, John.
