I was his student for a time at Carthage-Troy High School, Coolville, Ohio; Later, he handled the legal work after my father's death. A kind and caring man. He would be pleased to know that I am now a distinguished professor emeritus (of Spanish literature) from the University of California, Riverside.

Dear Friends,
My condolences at Joe's death. I valued his friendship during my years in Athens, 1970-1978, when I was manager of Marting's Department Store. Both Joe and Joyce were good customers of the store. He and I served on the AAA Board and other community organizations. He was a positive force in the community and will be missed.
